is there any way to make fps higher without buying new video card?
im on low settings and still averaging 20-30 fps...
im saving up for a new vid card.
but its frustrating with low fps.

not much.........you can lower your resolution, overclock your CPU/GPU

but in the end, the only real way to get better FPS if by getting a new video card.

Are you rinning vista?

You could actually go back to xp and get a small increase, just make sure you have all the latest xp drivers for your equipment........you could actually have a cpu bottleneck....all you can really do is drop resolution, turn off aa if it's on and any programs running in the background you don't need...........good way to check is a little known program that actually was created by microsoft called autoruns.

It'll tell you everything that is running and will let you turn it on or off....

try to use a high fps cfg?!
they will make your game look not that good, but its still playable
and itll pump you at least 20 fps

RAM/memory doesn't do much for your frames. If you're going to spend money towards RAM, redirect those funds to a video card.

Or in your case, if you're stuck with AGP, get a new motherboard with PCIE16.

i use the CEVO ( CyberEvolution ) fps config with a few changes you can find it here

http://www.cevo.com/?page=downloads&func=css

If you have concern or worrys about clicking this link just google " Cevo " click on downloads, cs:source. should have this info.

Client Configuration Files v3 Config 07-06-2007
These are the Official CEVO Counter-Strike Source Client configuration files. This ZIP file contains the CEVO FPS Config and a default version of a config.cfg configuration files. Extract these files into your cstrike/cfg directory.

Another thing you could try with out downloading anything is

1. open your console
2. type " fps_max 300 "

a cfg file you could try is in here. and if you do not know how to do that.

Go into steam/steamapps/USERNAME/counter-strike source/cstrike/cfg

open a new file as a notepad, copy and paste what is says in there.

Right click it and take off the .txt on it and it would be saved as a CFG.

( If you do not want some of the things on there, just erase them. :P )

alright. i figured it out last night and i was up till three
but im working on that
im trying to save up for new mobo and video card. but no job XD

Could you post your current specs on your system and maybe we could better assist you. Also you could get a decent video card that would allow you to play on decent settings for pretty cheap.

Uh... you have way more problems than your video card. A P4 is soooooooo outdated, single core proccesor. A new video isn't going to do anything with that bottlenecking your face off.
