So, I bought windows 7, and i heard a rumor that if I install it, my steam games will no loger run...

a.) Is this true?
b.) If so how can I make that not happen?

very untrue, infact the coding is done so well on win7, you should see a actual fps improvemnt on just about every game!

ya windows 7 is the best yet i haven't seen any issues with 1 thing yet and i had it since the rc.

the olny thing that wont work and will cause issues that i found was virtual drives so if you have an old version of daemon tools or alcohol 120% they will cause a crash.

Steam works great on Windows 7. I've been running it on Windows for the last 3 months without incident. It's a great OS.

Actually that rumor is completely untrue. In fact its the opposite! Steam works like a dream on Windows 7! They even have features unique to Windows 7!

And I've been testing Win7 on my gf's laptop.. It likes to crash when it goes to screensaver or whatever it does to save power when you let it sit open for awhile and after the crash you have to shutdown normally after it reboots or else there will be crazy stuff going on.. WinXP is still my #1 pick so far..

Like everyone else said, that rumor is untrue and W7 actually helps your FPS (at least in hex's and my case).

Yeah like everyone else that rumor is untrue. Windows 7 is awesome from what i heard (to bad im stuck with vista =[, it's basically what vista was sopose to be but vista failed and doesnt hog your system like vista

Thats a driver issue, It has nothing to do with windows 7.Keep in mind guys, win7 has xp VM just in case you have any issues, but i have it on 9 diff computers, no issues since teh rc!

I actually used Win7 beta1 Build 7000 as an everyday OS 24/7, and didn't have any issues. It was the first Beta OS that was stable enough to use 24/7.

I now have Win7 ultimate x86. No issues to date (knock on wood).

Rumor is false. I run Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Edition and everything runs smoother and actually faster than XP or Vista. It had more features and graphics then Vista, yet it even takes up less then XP. I would get it while the gettin is good. I know I love it. Plus it has backwards compatibility with Vista drivers which is neat until some companies get a brain and start releasing Win 7 compatible ones.

In short, worth it and better than XP/Vista? Yes.

Screws up steam games or other stuff you may have heard? No, they did it right this time.
