changing FSB:RAM ratio

How do I do that?
Motherboard: ECS Black A780GM-A Ultra, if that helps.
I've only looked a little, but general area should I look in?

There should be setting for that in the BIOS.. make sure if you make it run hot your ram has decent heat spreaders...

I'll get it tomorrow.
And to overclock. My comp crashes if I turn the HT bus past 250 (starts at 200), and I think its because of the memory.
But I think I just need a new motherboard.
Any good for overclocking AM3 boards that are around $100? Max of $120

Actually, a proper overclock should have a something abouts 220, with a higehr multiplier, you should get better stability as well as performance this way I run my phenomII 940 be @ 220 x 18 wich is just over 4 GHZ.Also upping from 200 will up your ram clock as well! So th einstability with 250 is because your running a higher mem clock and cpu clock, if you lower the original speed of your memory you can fix this as well, but rul of thumb for AMD is 220 x High multiplier. Keep in mind tf2 if you play it hates high FSb's in general, and will tend to freeze, this is also bypassed by a simple multiplier increase.

ya you won't be able to push it too high but the higher you try to go and the lower the multiplier will not stress the cpu much, it is the other aspects that are being overclocked as well. when you try to OC the ht bus you are ocing the entire computer, so it could also be other components unable to keep up other than the memory.
and you should get any mobo that is 790gx/fx with SB750

My multiplier is maxed at 14, so I kind of have to up the HT clock.

I know this.
What I'm trying to say, I suppose, is that I'm trying to push my memory too far.

EDIT: And just for clarification, CPUZ shows my memory running at 430MHz (should be 400), but the memory is advertised 800MHz (which should now be 860?) Doesn't the DDR mean double data rate or something, so it is double of the former speed?

I'm not made of money, the next upgrade would probably be May, and thats for graphics card. Going to try and get a GTX 360 (or whatever it may be called) or HD 58xx, whichever is better.

a simple am3 phenom II is only like 200.00 Its is well worth it! expecially for a overclocker enthusiast!

For $99 you can get the x2 and unlock it to a quad core fairly easy.

For that price a 3.1ghz quad core is a steal.

I know this. The processor I'm getting next will probably be an i5, as I've heard and read many benchmarks that it can easily get to 4GHz
But $200 is kind of a lot, considering I'm only 17.
