Valve cryptically updates Portal...

I hope its HL2 ep 3. I swear if they come back April 1st and are like "April Fools!!" I'm going to be really pissed.

Who else but valve?

First screenshots of a game? Make them Crytic ASCII art

Anyone notice that the left robot of the two "robots" standing next to eachother looks like it has a portal gun for an arm.

Enough of this stuff, it's driving me nuts.

I have to ask who the hell actually figures this stuff out like, did they just wake up one morning and go 'you know that Portal update was oddly suspicious, Ill decrypt the sound files and see what images they produce' later that day the same person figures out is a bbs number and goes 'well ill just plug in my old modem and dial that number and just see what it produces... well look at that ASCII images'

I mean what the hell, did they stay at a Holiday Inn Express or something?

Thats my input.

The Portal update was deliberately cryptic, think about it.

The update reason itself made no sense. Change radio emissions? That's weird right there. On top of that, the achievement just has dots and a question mark, no instructions on how to achieve it. Valve introduced it as a puzzle from the get go. And then when you find the radios, some of them are morse code. As soon as that happens someone's gonna try and figure out the morse code.

Then with a community like valves, people are going to try and see if the other sound files meant anything, and statistically there's going to be someone that's familiar with SSTV and will make an image. After that it's all downhill.

Scagnetti and i were sitting at our comps with SSTV Programs using Stegonography on the sound files. Watching those images come out was soooo cool. Oh and BTW, im on the BBS Right now watching it spit out ascii art.

Now there's a progress bar slowly filling up on the BBS. Haven't been on it myself, no way to get there, but the Portal forums on the Steam site sum all the new stuff up pretty quickly.

also too of the sound files have very garbled audio with alyx's voice, kliners and and barnyes voices could be there too but it is very heard to tell.

if it was a stereo signal it would be a hell of a lot easier to clean it up and separate it into multiple tracks. with a MS matrix
