8:00 Ban

Now i agree with the others are saying, but i must say not everyone CAN sleep that much. I myself am a diagnosed insomniac, so i will be playing CoD or CS:S until 5 in the morning, then shower and do my daily routine, shut my PC down and drive to school. One day a week i will crash and pass out for 12 hours from it, but i just can not sleep normally.

Now as to your problem. As said before resetting your router is your best bet. Then if you change the password to something they can guess, it will make life much easier for you. Change it to Administrator or Password. Then play through the night, if they catch you say you never noticed the time or what not and when they finally guess the router password you should be off the hook.

As others have said so will i, i do not endorse nor do i urge you to break your parents rules of the household. They are in charge until you move out and you should abide by them. Maybe try to get them to relax a little bit extending the times allowed to play, when not allowed on the internet take the time to study your schoolwork or learn something knew. Maybe go workout like i do when CS:S gets boring after playing 3 days straight, just remember computer doesn't have to be your life.

I can't change the password, my dad has the USERNAME changed and I don't know what it is.

Also, when I reset it it also clears the DSL setting which makes it work.

I suggest, as others have said, to listen to your parents. If you get caught they might just unplug the router and lock it away at night, move your PC to the dinning room so they can watch you, or worse.

Try not to break your parent's trust. That only leads to grief.

Well as for spoofing your MAC address that would have yielded little to no success anyways since MAC address are basically burned into your hardware. But as everyone here says obey your parents. makes things alot easier in the long run. just read a book or something. Reading books usually bores me when i do it over a certain amount of time thus leading me to go to sleep.

Well, the problem is I like reading...I'll end up staying up all night anyway.

Some nights I just cannot sleep, I don't think my parents understand that, plus it wouldn't change anything, they're just like that.

I'm thinking I'll wait a few months until summer starts then ask to be unblocked, maybe then they will take it off and leave it off.

Ok, let me take a stroll down memory lane. When I was 14, it was 1996 & Sony Playstation was the big craze. Also dial-up internet was booming like nuts (mostly AOL tho). There was no such thing as internet security back in those days. In fact, the internet had just been created the year before, so there were lots of loopholes that allowed for all kinds of mischief.

Now & days, we have internet security, wi-fi/ cable (which most people use some verison of broadband internet), & computers are bigger & badder than they used to be. Also we have consoles that make the graphics of yesterday look like chump cereal.

Like the majority of us have said, please listen to your parents. I was a fellow rebellious kid (had a pretty bad streak myself), but thankfully ive cleaned up my act & have learned from my mistakes. Also I have learned that all things require patience, esp when it comes to life. All aspects of life require patience, esp with parents & video games. Your gaming can wait for the next day. Now I can understand the whole "staying up because you cant fall asleep" bit. When you're younger and dont have as many responsibilities, you do tend to have that issue. It is good that you read a book, but also music helps to make you fall asleep. Even tho I listen to club music, if I keep it at a low volume, it easily helps me to fall asleep. Try that out.

Please dont try to cause your parents stress & agitation. Im sure you're parents already have enough going on in life without you trying to mess something up just to provide yourself with more fun. Just a lil bit of advice.

Wow.
Wow.
Wow.

I just found out the user, and I entered the password as "admin"...and it worked!

I won't abuse it anyone, but if I can't sleep I have an alternative.

Of course now that router broke...

Well if i was your parents i would of already had a key stroke trojan on your system tracking every thing you type. I would also proxy your internet so you couldn't go to certain websites. Be happy you have parents and respect them by going to bed when your told and doing what they say your going to need them down the road. :)

If you broke my rules i would have your computer in the trunk of my car :)

hahaha! My dad tried to put parental controls on my computer, but I hacked the root password and logged in with all Administrator powers. After that I changed the password to my dads computer. Own3d!

He's a hacker too, so he flooded our router so that it froze......
Father-1 My-1

We'll see who wins in the end >:)

Well as the rest said keep to your parents word, however if you did spoof your wireless address it sounds like your dad has enabled mac address filtering so you wouldnt get on at all!

Secondly, there are two ways to change the setting, guess the password correctly, or hit the reset button.

Hitting the reset button wipes out ALL settings so your dad would know, also guessing the password is slightly harder than it sounds, 3 tries then it will make you refresh the page, at a standard routers password can go up to 26 characters and there are 19.9 Octillion at 20 charctures it would take you 631 Billion years. To figure it out, thats if you had a super computer too and the programming kit to boot.

At your age as well I wouldnt go to much against your parents as they could take the laptop away, now if you wait a few years and show your responsable they could change the rules for you.

Thats my 50 Pence!

probably listen to your parents, they most of the time want the best for you. and well, if my parents would caught me using internet when i am not allowed, they probably lock me of the internet for month or 2. they always say: "that should do the trick"

Dave you just brew my mind with those numbers just saying. The one time my parents locked the router i just got onto a nearby connection on my PSP. But yea don't get in trouble over the internet. Use the time you have to sleep now because later on it just starts to decrease....

i think they should close this thread right now by helping him you and he are undermining his father and his parents have the right to raise PBJ.

Well good luck getting it back=P
My parents to that to me, but it shuts off at 10:00, it's better, but I know how you feel=/

Well i was lucky that my mom is pc illiterate and i learned alot about computers at a young age.
Also she could never lock me out of my internet unless she stopped paying the bill which if she did that I'd take her off my cell phone plan mwhahaha. but yeah you shouldn't go against your parents especially as young as you are. I had unlimited access to my computer and video games growing up but i was also responsible enough to not game till 2am on a school night.
Also my kids will probably hate me XD

This thread makes me feel upset at some of the comments.

My parents tell me to start getting in bed at 10 and i am glad they do. Sure on that night i want to stay up for a bit later, check more threads and finish a few things... i do anyway, but if it wasn't for my parents, i would be up till 1 am playing on the pc.

Also, do something else when you can't sit on the pc. Read a book. It's something that we need to do more of. Do some exercise (press-ups/sit-ups).

But listen to your parents.

Listening to my parents is something i do. They generally tell me to go to bed by 10,10:30ish. Im 15, but i still listening. Maybe every once and a while i use my ipod touch for like, 30 minutes, but i know its good to sleep.
