Okay I bought a Creative X-fi Xtremegamer sound card. It is a nice card for the money, but now its not seeing my mic. The only thing it sees is "What I Hear".

This is annoying since I am trying to talk in vent and the only thing people hear is the game.

I would like help to get it working, but if I need to get another sound card, please give me some ideas. I have been a Creative fan for years, but for some time now it seems they are lacking on the updates or just plan fixing. Also, I am using both PCI Express for the 2 graphic cards I have, so it would have to be a regular PCI slot.

Specs:

3.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
Memory- 4 gig

Are you plugging your mic into the front port on the case or directly into the sound card?

Actually, this to me sounds like your sound card is setup to detect digital input, instead of your microphones input. If the people in vent can hear the game, then your soundcard isn't set to detect mic input, instead it is detecting digital which would be anything running on your computer. Go into your soundcards software (i am running Realtek so i have an extra Mic icon in my tasktray for the soundcard) and see if you can change the options from Digital inout, to microphone input.

Its plugged into the sound card.

I have looked all over for the mic connect opions. I haven't found it at all. I am wondering if I should just delete the sound card and start over. I am due for a nice format soon anyway, but I was hoping for a little longer amount of time before formating.

I have a Creative X-Fi Titanium, so I'm not sure how much of this will be the same. I Launched the Creative Console Launcher, went into settings and there you can decide if you want you flexijack to be a line in or a microphone. If you have that, is it set up properly?

^This. Be sure under Flexijack you choose Microphone, then right click your little speaker in your task bar > Recording Devices > Disable "What you Hear", "Digital In" > Right click on "Microphone" > "Set as Default Communication Device"
*****Be sure that the "Microphone" you set as default is connected AND is shown in that window as Creative SB X-Fi (It will say that right under the word Microphone.

The Flexijack settings is also in your Audio Control Panel (in the case you do not have the Creative Console Launcher) in its own tab "Flexijack"

All of this is done under the assumption you are using Windows 7 (maybe Vista)... No idea how this works on Windows XP, ditched that a long time ago :P

right click the sound icon in systray hit recording devices and find stereo mix and un tick it and find your mic and tick it off

There is no mic tick off. Also there isn't a Flexijack. I am using Vista.. sorry I didn't put that in before. The mic option isn't there at all. I am going to uninstall Creative and see if it works. This will be the second sound card that has gotten rid of my mic feature from Creative. Guess I will start looking for a different company. I'll make another post in the Tech Talk about good sound cards so I don't misuse the tech help.

Thanks for all your help,
