so i have at&t dsl and im very tired of this horrable internet getting disconected all the time so what are some other providers that you guys use and are very happy with all sugestions are welcome.

Verizon is pretty good, the service is pretty good and the customer service they provide is very helpful

I use Comcast and I'm pretty happy with it, very fast.

It really depends on your location though.

go to www.dslreports.com in your area for reviews relating to local ISPs

(Be aware, people complain about spyware on that site, but people also complain about spyware on this site as well.)

If they have Verizon FiOS in your area, I'd suggest getting that. You can't beat a pure fiber connection straight to your house. Only way they could make it better is if they had a fiber connection all the way to your computer.

That's odd, I have ATT too, and love the fact they don't care what you upload / download, which is a HUGE plus for me :)

Comcast and Verizon check what you download, and send you that triple warning thing...not cool.

Fiber is a type of cable. It uses light to transmit data. It's stupid fast and from a security standpoint very secure due to the fact that it's almost impossible to vampire tap and does not give off emanations.

So to answer your question, Verizon will run the fiber to a box on the outside of your house and then it will use a media converter to convert it from the fiber connection to a standard RJ-45.

I would suggest verizon Fiber Optic. As Shadow said it is extremely fast, easy to install, and not too expensive for the speed. At&T is good in some locations, terrible in others. I have century link and absolutely DESPISE their service. When it was just spring i actually had amazing dl and ul speed, when embarq took over there were a few bugs here and there, but each time they upgraded i still had great service, century link bought them out and installed old hardware. They also do not upgrade.

Verizon checks to see WHAT you are downloading if you download too much. Download as much as you want, as long as it is LEGAL. If it is illegal, then you have to worry about the triple threat. Hence the reason legal is the way to go when it comes to good internet service providers.

tnx and by illegal is like limewire illegal?

torrents, limewire, and any p2p application are prefectly leagal in everyway.

it is just the most companys seem to belive that they are olny used by pirates even know they have much more uses than just ripping stuff off.

and for the fiber optic would the existing cable lines affect my internet in any way because im pretty sure there not that good
