So.. I just joined a TF2Lobby with my tags on

TBH, most of the people who play in TF2 lobby now aren't really that good overall (by that I mean if you go in expecting upper tier competition, you are probably in for a let down. There's plenty of bad players in lobby now). It's such public knowledge now that it's basically organized pubbing.

Seeing one lash out at you is not surprising, most of the people who frequent it like to think they are part of some exclusive club and better than everyone else.

Yeah, Tf2 lobby is the entry level to competitive now. Which I think is really cool, we always needed something like that for other games to start getting people into the competitive scene. Before there was a big leap from casual -> then your with a team and playing skilled players, and no middle option to ease you into it.

Most of the more competitive teams are are on IRC.

Yeah this sounds like a semi-competitive niche in the whole TF2 community, where there are a few prima donnas who think it's the tops and that doing well there gives them license to brag.

TBH I've never watched any competitive TF2 so I imagine it's probably sort of intense, and that a lot of things are banned from use, but TF2 always struck me as a casual game that was made to just be fun, so I don't really place it on the same level as CS and Quake.

I highly doubt it death, the great majority of the people there won't kick for something like that. And if it really turns out to be a problem, just take your tags off like I do.

I don't even know how to play the game, but whenever i don't get kicked, no one starts the game so i can't play anyways.

In my experience you seem to be having a very rare experience with TF2 Lobby then, 95% of the time when a lobby fills the leader will start it near immediately, and the great majority of the time you won't get kicked without warning. Are you watching what people are saying in the chat?

7 of 10 lobbies are fail because someone doesnt show up, or someone rages etc etc
throw a mic/merc to your name and be lucky if they ask you

When I join the lobby I leave my tag on and sometimes they say like "Hey, are You in edgegamers?" and that keeps a smile on my face
