Can't connect to dod_strand

The bars will load all the way but then it will just sit there. I can't even hit cancel so I have to use the task manager to end the game. I connected to the server a few times earlier today. I really don't know what caused this problem. I checked my firewall, and it's not that. Any idea what to do?

The first time you download it it is weird and it won't go for me. Cancel if you can and try again. Worse case i can try and get you the files. You need the map, or just the sound?

I tried to connect over five times. Same thing keeps happening.

I need all the files I guess because every single time I try to connect it cycles through all the files.

You have two folders which go into your DOD directory.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\ACCOUNT NAME\day of defeat source\dod

I am not sure what files you need so i am giving you the entire folders as i have them. Hopefully, this fixes it, if not i can give you more stuff until you match my directory.

Same problem still. I noticed that it cycles through all the files still. It did that before too when I was able to join. Does it do that for you too?

Then empty the directories. Yea it redownloads all the sounds and little files all over again. Not the map tough.

EDIT: It did dl some map files. Which is weird. Let me redo the files, see if that works.

Still doesn't work. The Avalanche and Kalt servers work fine though, so I don't know what the problem is with Strand.

What operating system do you have?

You can uninstall it completely and reinstall see what it does. You ran steam as administrators and tried it?

I will try and get Kendle or Garden to look at this, i am pretty much out of ideas. Server seems fine as others connect well. This may be on your side. A security restriction on your drive which won't let it to write the files maybe. Running as admin should bypass that. Best thing is to do a clean install, make sure to delete the day of defeat source folder after uninstalling if you do so old files are not kept.

Any other ideas?

I did uninstall it and reinstall the game. I did a clean install like you said. Yes, Steam is run as an administrator. I'm not having this problem with any other server as far as I know.

Well, you use steam and the server shows up so you have the right version. If you want we can try having you use another account. I have a DOD account i can let you log into and see if it works. Who knows, a change in steam id might fix it. Let me know.

You can try to port forward on your router. What brand of router do you have? You can try to upgrade the firmware on your router too.

Just port forward for DOD:S and steam. Was looking at this thread.

2) Reset my router
3) Router firmware is up to date - WRT160Nv3
4) Did /flushdns /renew and /release

Sorry man, i think we can say that it is on your side for sure. Something it is not letting you finish and it is hard to troubleshoot from here. I suggest you defragment and run a checkdisk, maybe you have bad sectors.

I would as a last try even uninstall the firewall and see what happens. Is windows firewall and defender disabled?

Wow, ive never heard of something like this happening.

If it still doesnt work i would ask valve and see what they say.
