I was faced with a similar situation back in 2006 with my old clan, [LoC]. It was originally a Call of Duty (1)-based clan [division established in 2003, I joined Jan. 2nd, 2004], but CoD2 had just been released, and a bunch of people were playing that. The clan decided to spread out to fully support both games. However, the clan overspread its reach. It didn't have enough people to support both. A clan in the hundreds dropped to a few tens in a matter of months, as players found themselves in servers other than ours, since we couldn't get our servers populated. Of the 200 or so hours I logged into CoD2, more than three-quarters of that was sitting around in an empty server, trying to fill it, as clanmates went and enjoyed themselves in other servers. That ruined the game for me. I cannot enjoy playing CoD2, even now. I think it's the worst in the series, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's mostly because of my experience sitting in an empty server for hours on end every day. The clan fell apart entirely by the start of 2007. I didn't join another clan (at least not officially. I did a lot of work with my father's clan) for another three years until eGO, and, even then, it took over a year of pestering from a few individuals to get brought into the Insurgency division.

I recognize that we aren't in the same exact situation. However, I had really, really bad experiences with something similar enough to scare me. Beware of overreaching our boundaries. Do not, under any circumstances, believe that this clan is above it. Look at Insurgency now (or even a few months ago, before the division started spreading out). There are very few populated servers at any given time, and even fewer are regularly populated. The game is dying out. Our three main servers, even the one that's empty half of the day, sits in the top ten servers regularly. A lack of support could fold the division, and perhaps screw the game over as much as eGO's support helped RnL during Alpha.

If you want to play other games, that's fine. I'm not going to say only play INS. That'd be foolish. Hypocritical, even, as I've been trying to cram in a bunch of other games during the summer, both supported by eGO and not, just so that I could play them. I do think, however, that it's in the division's best interest to acknowledge that Insurgency is the heart of the division and maintain strong support of it (and not the "of course we will" brush-off that [LoC]'s CoD1 division got), and not lose sight of that.

i might not be playing INS right now but i still feel loyal to the division. name change=division change for me

*edit. has INS really died since ive been lost in bc2 land?

Yeahhh and stop being such a knife freak I wana try beat your record

Insurgency is going to remain the top division. We're not losing that game. I'm not even talking about changing division tags. INS is going to be the main division. As of right now, source-mod works on RNL and FA:S, which means MAUL will work on them.

All we're looking to do is branch out a little and add extra games people play. Give more eGO's other options on games to play. The current leadership roster will stay in place as is:

DL's:
Caffeine-rx and Jedihitman will run the division.

Advisors:
Yeti - RNL
Burt_reynolds - FA:S
RT / Pimp / Drunken - INS
IceGladiator - Recruiting

As I stated earlier in a post. When the "NEW" INS comes out, we'll mod over to that version and rock it out! If the INS - Art of Revolution comes out we'll look at that version too.

That sounds a lot better than what i thought this was about.

All this means is that your leadership and our EC's will be working extra hard to bring our members in our clan but more especially our DIVISION members more events and more fun.

This is all that we are trying to accomplish, is to figure out a way to grow and keep our family (division) together in multiple aspects of the world of MODS.

As I see this can only lead to good things, the division (whatever it will be called) will grow because of our support.. This will mean we get a bigger piece of the eGO budget, wich in turn will mean more servers! With players spread over multiple games/mods they will probably take a look at the other mods that we support.

Fear of the unknown is a human factor, but as IceGladiator said in his post, "Change (most of the time) is a good thing." Our leaders have taken the Insurgency Division to where it is now, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and trust them to make this happen to the better.

Just my two cents..

LAG Ftw =) Back on topic what DoDo said could be true I've noticed that when some where playing RnL few eGO members were playing INS kinda scary

I'm not agreeing with this.

If Insurgency Division grew up , it's because it was Insurgency.
It's not because of RnL , FFF , FA:S .... even though I love RnL , I don't want this divison called 'the mod division' there isn't any pride anymore.

my votes at stay where we are now until we get FFF/FA:S/RnL some more momentum. if they get more popular ill lean more towards the merge but as of right now... im comfortable where we are.

wouldn't be a bad thing so I say I agree plus having a multi-mod division would probably make it easier to recruit new players as in if people wouldn't want to join due to there not being a full FOF division I agree on this though would probably make things better in the long run

I think this is a great step forward for the eGO community, mod community, and just in general "our community" as in Insurgency. Its great in a sense that we have a spread of our Insurgency only servers around other games. Which have positives of people joining the clan in the form of a multi-mod division. The advantages of the multi-mod division is that people won't neglect other mods and they learn about other mods they didn't know about, because its a benefit to them; whether it be in terms of promotion, different gaming experience ie: tactical, or just run and gun and or the meeting of other people who they can play and enjoy their mod or a different mod within the division so they don't have the "I'm not good at this mod/game attitude." Its pure fun when playing a mod especially like a game like RnL because of not knowing if the player is dead and the non-based score game, and objective only game.

Some of the disadvantages I find however is that sometimes, as we are still an Insurgency mod division, we don't have full servers. Now I know, I believe the 3 games we are looking at are not steamed currently, and we have the deflation of numbers because of the non-steamed games are being played because of word of mouth and not through steam, so we have less people on our servers but we have to look at some of these decisions. I love all these games we have that are wanting to be inserted into the division to make it a modded division, but how are we going to keep these servers full? I would like participation within all these groups of people who want this division to go through. We need to try and fill our servers whenever we see them empty. Because, as I see with these mods, when servers are empty, people as in pubs don't want to start a server, so, when we do it, we start the influx of people playing and staying for a few hours at a time. This is what i have seen with all the mods, such as RnL and Insurgency; I don't know much about Firearms Source and how that goes. Also, I want to make sure we have decent output to our events. And if its a multi-mod division I would like each game to have at least people from their other respective mods come play and be in the event of that game, so it has more people and becomes even more fun and intense then it already is. If we don't have those 2 things on a daily basis and we see it is affecting eGO, whether finacially or recruiting wise, we should either cut it and move to another game like Pirates, Vikings and Knights, or just add it back to our main mod, Insurgency, or just put it out of commission until we feel it fit to go back on that mod!

Sincerely,

Makes some great points

I think this change will have a positive outcome in the end.
We will have many new members coming in, we will help increase interest in certain games such as RnL and FA:S and we will keep this division ALIVE and GROWING.

People who fear that Insurgency will be forgotten in the midst of all these other mods don't really have anything to worry about if you ask me. As long as we remind our members that it's not just the FA:S community or the FoF community they are part of, but the community as a WHOLE, then I think people will have a go at some of the other mods that we feature, thereby increasing the lifespan of the individual modifications.

My two cents.

Thiz is epic step for the community, do it and if all else fails just switch back :P

I kinda agree, my favorite post right now is from wind. Rnl and FAS are great mods and sort of new (FAS has been around 10 years but not been very popular). All new mods have to work them selves up. Its rare that a mod gets insanely popular days after release. IMO Insurgency needs the most players because 2 years is a long time to wait for INS: AOR and we have to do our best to keep this INS as popular as possible or INS AOR might lose alot of players. Also would these mods have seperate forums? It would be to cluttered

I voted I agree
