First off, For those that looked at the title, and said "F@H what is this?", here is an excerpt from wikipedia:
wikipedia said:
Folding@home ("Folding at Home") (sometimes abbreviated as FAH or F@h) is a distributed computing (DC) project designed to perform computationally intensive simulations of protein folding and other molecular dynamics (MD), and to improve on the methods available to do so. It was launched on October 1, 2000, and is currently managed by the Pande Group, within Stanford University's chemistry department, under the supervision of Professor Vijay Pande.

Now, I know there are folders out there other than my self that hang out in Tech Talk. This is the tread to show your self.

Post stuff such as:

-folding gear
-PPD
-teams you fold for
-folding questions
-trash talk for competing teams
-anything else folding related!

EOC pages are GREATLY appreciated: Link to EOC.

For those that don't know what EOC is, it is a website that tracks your personal, and team folding stats.

For those with interests that have been piqued, here is a link to the overclock.net folding guides section .

Here is a link to the Folding@eGO thread:

I'll kick things off:

I fold on my i5 650, and now that i OCed to 3.8GHz, I get about 5.2kppd on a good work unit. I fold for team 37726, overclock.net, we are currently ranked #6 in the world. I hate 6021's, If you don't know what i'm talking about, then consider yourself lucky. I'm pretty knowledgeable about folding, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Have you been following the battle between [H]ard and EVGA? Pretty epic ramp up battle going on.

Currently I am folding only on an 8800GT and a Q6600. :(

what team you on? What kind of PPD you get?

No I haven't noticed eVGA/[h], Don't really care about anyone other than OCN, we have OCAU in our sights!

EVGA, about 8K PPD, I'd get more if I wasn't busy playing StarCraft 2 lol. Hopefully throwing in a GTX 460 soon for another 10K PPD, and hopefully an i7 box down the road for -bigadv.

I plan to get some sort of 8 threaded CPU soon, plus annother 4gb of ram so i can do -bigadv.

Along with 2X460s that i plan to get.

I should be dropping about 40k ppd

Havent thought about folding for a while (since its summer and all and A/C is expensive).

I fold for OCN.
fold on 2 5850s and my Ph II 955 (not the greatest folders, i know).
PPD: bout 5k per 5850 (875/1200), 8k for the Ph II (3.8/with SMP bonus).

Just started in April of this year (when i got all my HW good and running after substantial upgrages). stopped after the Chimp challenge (folded for OCNChimpin during that time) and will hopefully get going again when it cools down here in TX. My EOC is here (not really that impressive, i know :P).

Folding for eGO, as all you should. Traitors! Still running on a pair of GTX 260's , with a pair of i7's sitting idle as well as an i3 and 8800 gts . Did have my 260's oc'd to 1600mhz on the shader, which is what makes all the difference but haven't been able to get it stable again without failing. Seems to top out at 1587 mhz whether i go to 1600 or 1620... Beats me . Currently at about 2.6 million . Never really paid attention to ppd , just open the client and let it go , checking on my total points every few weeks or so.

Come on everyone , FOLD - for eGO .

I don't think I can be called a traitor when I'm not even in eGO.:P

At the end of the day it doesn't matter, we're all on the same team -- finding cures and treatments. :)

:) My mistake, i think its Reflex whos the traitor ! And yes, at the end of the day it does not matter what team your on as long as your folding. Plus i see this as a way to get more money out of my GPU, while others look at it as a very slightly higher electric bill. Most of my family members including my father as well as my sister have diabetes , its genetic and im definitely next on this list :-(

Does anybody know if folding has found cures for anything so far?

I really like the competition aspect of it. That is the real draw of it. Ranking up and getting the most ppd possible, and it's for a great cause!

The competition is pure genius. Without the points system people would soon lose interest and stop folding.

EVGA outproduced default over a 7 day period.

yea, what are they doing? are they having a foldathon or something? they added 4mil to their ppd.

OCN gets about 4mil ppd :(

It was a combination of the annual time zone challenge and a final push to knock the [H]orde out of first place.

Here are the prizes that were up for grabs during the time zone challenge, and here are the TZC stats.

so do you make the 100k pts you need for the $10 monthly credit?

It's 100k for 5 bucks, and then another 5 if you hit 250k. I make the 100k monthly, and the 250k on occasion(depending on how much I game, if I experience down time, if I get the right work units, etc).

The EVGA bucks are the only way I'm gonna be able to get that 460(but hopefully they release a full GF104 card which I would get instead) that I want oh so dearly. Then my PPD will finally be able to be over 10k consistently.
