Melee Server?

We do have our Monday Night Melee event -- I'm sure one of the first steps to your idea coming to fruition would have to be getting this event 110% populated for the entire hour (to show the demand for it), which I don't think is happening right now...

we will not be having a melee only server. The event we have once a week is plenty.

Yea, defitinely come out to the Monday Night Melee Event. I've been to a few myself and end up dying of laughter half the time. Always a fun event!

It's one thing to discuss ideas here in the forums. It's another entirely when every first post about a "new idea" is "You should Drop Box this."; it's been happening way too much lately around here, I'm afraid. The idea of discussion first is to see if anyone actually agrees with you.
That being said, we won't have a server like this; it's too much of a novelty, and would never stay full like our 24/7s. The old (now gone, for the record; nobody was willing to play on it, so it was shut down) Sniper Server actually offered people something new and unique: playing as a restricted class whenever you wanted! Long-range sniping duels! And in its heyday, a unique weapon setup designed to maximize fairness: Springfield+M1 Carbine+Hand Grenade+Shovel/Knife .
However, we do have the "Monday Melee Madness" event at 10PM EST every week, where we spend an hour meleeing each other, and everyone is of course more than welcome to come! Please join us in Ventrilo to get the password and hang out during the event too.

i dont know about that but before server where can play many maps what we play like in realism so everyone can get maps and learn maps.

I think the dude is fully aware of the melee madness event, if you read his first post.
He was just getting at his idea of how a melee only server would be a good idea. Now that the pros and cons of the idea, sadly for him, mostly cons have been thrown on the table, I'm sure he gets it.

Perhaps we could have a practice server. I used to run one of these for my clan a few years back in CS 1.6 and it stayed fairly full. Same as sniper server idea but it would rotate.
One map helped you practice assault, one pistols only, another melee only, and so on and so forth. You just have to find the most populated maps that do this for each weapon and rotate them out enough to not get bored but still get good time in.
Many would log into this server to get warmed up before playing in actual game. Some days I would do nothing but practice server and had a good time for hours.
Maps like this actually helped me be a more offensive player as I learned to run and gun on them as some maps are made like this.
I do miss scouts knives though. Low gravity, lots of sniper deaths....mmmmhhhmmmm.....
