Since Crysis 2 has been pulled from the Steam store and place only on Origin and now EA has announced SW:The Old Republic will only be available on Origin as well. It looks like all future EA distributed games will only be on Origin and no longer on Steam. This includes BF3 and ME3. Hopefully it wont be too much of a fail and more like a tie in like how Blizzard does it with Battle.net.

Darn, I was really looking forward to a Old Republic/TF2 promotional light-saber for my demo-knight.:P
I guess everyone is starting to see how much money Valve is making off of steam & want to try online distribution themselves.

I don't see the problem everyone has with Origin (formerly known as EA Download Manager). I currently use it right now for bc2 (bought a physical copy on sale). Its not like I even use Origin, its just there so I can redownload bc2 updates if I uninstalled the game. Its nothing like Steam.

I uninstalled origin yesterday. Hated it.

That being said, Crysis 2 getting removed is no big deal. That game flopped anyways.

Boycotting leads all just hot air and nobody carries through with it. Case in point everyone screamed boycott when CoD announced the subscription based elite status. Now they have 2 million pre-subscribers in a matter of days.

Wait what? Subscriptions in CoD? What is the world coming to?

I heard BF3 was gonna be a good game, but guess not now and cool now I saved some money, thanks EA for loosing a big customer base...

Because everything is terrible if it isn't on Steam!

It's not really that big of a deal.

Considering I have >100 games on steam, and all my friends are on steam I would rather not switch just to play a few other games. EA is going to lose a ton of revenue since pretty much everything is sold on steam. Will be running like 7 interfaces on one game.

Also, it is a big deal. EA won't let you download your game after a year of buying it with origin.

And you may want to read the origin TOS.

You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol 37683v1 Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services. EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you. IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT OR DISPLAY THE DATA DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION, PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE APPLICATION.

I guess EA doesn't want PC sales.

I don't see how this helps them at all, they'll probably end up making less money

That's the only problem I really see with this D: . That's horrible.

Not enough to stop me from buying BF3...but that's pretty bad.

Maybe they don't want to be held hostage by the crazy steam sales later on in it's lifespan..

:confused1:

Steam might be taking a sizable chunk of it's profit margin since all theyre selling really is a cd key rather than anything physical.

I bought the original Crysis on EA's online store and it told me that I wouldn't be able to download after six months of buying it unless I paid extra money (which i didn't). Yet, to this day, I still can. We'll see if EA really goes through with those threats this time.

Either way it doesn't matter to me since Crysis 2 just doesn't interest me in the least. Not much of a supporter of consolizing great original PC titles.

So you aren't getting Battlefield 3, Mass effect 3, SW:Tor or any other future EA games? Since this model isn't just being applied to crysis.

Because I own 4 computers? That doesn't really seem like a problem for most people.
Was just stating it, just showing how limited they are being with their DRM. There is a lot of issues if you have to reinstall multiple times.
