Sexy Beast's Top 15 TV Shows

#15

Title: 24
Network: Fox
Status: Ended
Original Run 2001-2010

What is it?: The show chronicles the life and times of Jack Bauer, the biggest bad ass to ever live, as he saves the United States on 8 separate occasions. Each season occurs over the course of one day and the actions supposedly happen in real time.

Why watch it?: When 24 is at its best, you?ll find nothing more entertaining on television. Dealing out a high octane mixture of great action and deeply layered geo-political conspiracy, 24 offers up some of the tensest moments in TV history. Sure the show has its faults, some characters come off as obnoxious and not all seasons are created equal. But for its post 9/11 audience, it was exactly the show that everyone needed.

HOW IS THIS NOT #1. UNACCEPTABLE. I'm disappointed.

Breaking Bad was totally my second guess for number one right after My Little Pony.

Title: Arrested Development
Network: Fox
Status: Canceled
Original Run: 2003-2006

What is it?: The story of a wealthy family who lost everything, and the one son who had no choice but to keep them all together. It's Arrested Development.

Why watch it?: Yeah, this one is a little obvious. Allow me to put this one into perspective for you; I had a friend who absolutely refused to watch this show because it had Michael Cera in it. We managed to get him to watch the first episode, after watching the whole series he stated that it was the best TV show he had ever seen. It?s pretty much the only show where you either love it or you haven?t watched it.

Never thought it was that great it would be on fox a while ago

24 is awesome, but it has a lot of issues. The issue is that there is a lot of fat and filler in 24. 24 episodes is a lot of time to kill, most shows only run 13 episode seasons. I mean I like 24, but it has problems.

I completely forgot to say this in the OP, but I'm doing more recent shows in this list. Also actual series, so sorry to all the Band of Brothers fans out there.

lol

I understand the first half of the sentence...but the second half escapes me.

Say wha? No Boardwalk Empire?

On page two I admit to have only seen the first episode.

I agree with you about Justified, Venture Bros, and Breaking Bad. I've never watched Game Of Thrones because I have basic cable, and I knew you'd have Arrested Development on there even though I've never watched it.

I loved Spaced, I was interested in Rubicon when it came out but never got around to it, I was interested with Fringe but after I missed the first 3 episodes I gave up on trying to watch it (I may pick it up if its on netflix), I was surprised to not see the simpsons somewhere but then again they're a little worn (although still good at times), another surprising absense was The Sopranos (still mad at series finale) or Mad Men.

Well I'm glad you agree with Justified. I love the show and it needs more love. Game of Thrones is definitely worth watching when if comes out on DVD. Arrested Development is up on Netflix streaming and is something that is incredibly easy to get into.

The Simpsons has pretty much out stayed its welcome. I mean if they stopped after season six or so then it would still be golden, but it now dead to me. As for The Sopranos...it started when I was to young to watch it and I never got into it. The show is on my list of things to watch, but that really long list. Mad Men I never got into, it's up on Netflix streaming now and I watched the first two episodes last night. I might continue watching it...I don't know yet.

If you had to extend the list to more than fifteen what would you put on it? I'm sure you have plenty runner ups.

Ok. Just finished the first season of Game of Thrones and all I got to say. DAMN it was a lot better then what I thought.

Spot on with Justified. Can't wait for the next season.

Though the show in whole wasn't spectacular, I loved "Kings" simply for Ian MacShane's brilliant performances, especially in the ep. where he confronts Death, as played by Saffron Burrows.

Also, have you seen "The Pillars of the Earth" Sexy? It was fantastic.

I watch alot of American Pickers and Pawn Stars
I've been watching it more lately -_-

Yeah, I was frankly shocked how great the first season was. There some good news on the future of the series. HBO has sort of promised not to cancel it...so it wont wind up like Rome...or other HBO series that were cancelled too soon.

Yeah, I really can't recommend Justified enough,

I haven't seen Kings and I haven't gotten around to seeing Pillars of the Earth yet...though I've heard great things about it.

Ehh...yeah. I sort of avoid the History channel...if you can even call it that any more.

Doctor who!

And yeah, Colbert, Jon Stewart, but yeah once again for characters and such.

Haven't seen Dr. Who yet, which is odd since I'm watching Torchwood.

For my age group (late 20s), The Office, Psych, and Modern Family have both been watched by everyone I know.
