sound issue with dods

every time i go to connect to a day of defeat server, it takes time to download the medic sound. doesn't matter how many times i connect to a server, it downloads the file (and i assume the file never gets downloaded because it has been trying to download for sometime now.

how can i fix this?

I have a similar issue, I finally stopped downloading the medic sound a few weeks ago but still have to download the advertisements or what ever they are. I can see how frustrating this would be if one's internet wasn't up to par. Im not sure what to do maybe putting a medic sound in your steamapps? I have no clue.

You can go in your options > multiplayer and set it to Do not download custom sounds. If you want to get rid of the advertisements, you can set it to Do not download any custom files. If you set it to do not download any custom files and you try to join a server with a map that you dont have, it will give you an error. You will have to change it to one of the other options to download the map off the server.
