So I'm currently a freshmen in highschool, and using their internet and laptops. I've noticed a few things stupid that are blocked. What stupid things are blocked at your schools? Ill list mine.

Google Translate,Google images, Bing, Megavideo, Educational Games/Games.

Ill list more later. You guys help with the list :D

Not about the internet per se, but I think its stupid that schools around my county outlaw hats

Google translate is blocked because with a small bit of knowledge and a small amount of thinking outside the box, you can use it to circumvent many firewalls that the school district/derp IT departments use to block websites. As with all leaks, it compounds exponentially from there- for example, at my school the IT people, in their amazing brilliance, blocked virtually everything on the machines except Office Suite and Internet Explorer... and left a properly installed Powershell on the limited user accounts (Powershell = very powerful cmd line shell with some additional... perks). It didn't take very long to get completely through the system from there.

Only the things you would expect to be blocked are blocked at my school like Twitter, Facebook, this site and most others that have to do with gaming and social networking but I've got a way to get onto Youtube so it's ok :D

I use hotspot shield, because virtually everything is blocked here examples: 4chan (understandable), kotaku or everything related to games, steam, lifehacker, hell even edgegamers forum is blocked...

Remember you're at school to learn and not surf the internet or play games.

My school is lucky enough, to understand technology today, and we can acess Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Edgegamers. Thats about it. I guess they finally figured out Facebook, Twitter, and Especially Youtube, is helpful for teachers to teach classes, and show them stuff.

:D
