Who surfs?

1.Who "Skill Surfs"?
2.When's the next Surf Night?
3. Where's a good Skill Surf server?

Hi Meepy,

There are a couple of people in the community that like to skill surf for fun and what not. A few names that come to mind are _MEGA and dRastic1337. Our next Surf Night is Wednesday, March 28th, so it's a little ways down the road. Usually _MEGA hosts these and starts the event with deathmatch/prison maps and switches to skill maps after the first hour. As far as any good skill surf servers, I couldn't tell you.

thanks, but im not really a compettitive surfer, i just try to get to the end, so far my fave skill map is the one with the fruits and vegetables, dunno what its called tho

Edit: The surf night doesnt seem to be scheduled on the calendar, makes me confused, and due to a prank im already halfway to insanity

3. There is no such thing as a "good" skill surf server because to be honest, the few I have played on all suck. You are better off going to create your own server with maps you have and entering these commands into the console:
sv_airacceleration 150
sv_enablebunnyhopping 1

I do this from time to time to just practice so maps, or noclip around some maps to find secrets and such.

I enjoy the occasional surf =D, as for skill surfing, I don't surf enough to be classified as a skill surfer but I guess I'm ok at surfing, I almost beat fruits one time!

i do fine until the Cherries, I get stumped right there, but I occasionally at least get past Leek

surf_fruits and surf_vegetables; they are two separate maps. (However vegetables does contain a pumpkin stage and a mushroom stage, neither of which are vegetables @_@)

entering these commands into the console:
sv_airacceleration 150
sv_enablebunnyhopping 1

sv_enablebunnyhopping isn't necessarily required. All you really need is sv_airaccelerate 150 (personally I use 670, but 150 works fine as well). I tend to set gravity a little lower at sv_gravity 680, but default gravity can work as well; you may just have to play with it a little, as it can vary between maps.

I'm not sure exactly what sv_enablebunnyhopping does; I can't find anything official on the Internet about it, but to me it just seems like it decreases your friction when you land and then jump again. It doesn't change the airaccelerate or gravity for you, and it seems pretty useless unless you actually have the airaccelerate set. You notice a difference in bunnyhopping ability with it on, but considering you're surfing and not bhopping, it shouldn't be necessary.

I LOVE to surf and bunnyhop If you ever want someone to do it with just HMU on steam. I've been kind of hard to contact due to the fact that I'm currently working hard at school and I have a new girlfriend. Also I'm in germany right now but I always love to do those and if you need help getting better I can finish almost every map I've ever tried
