I've played on eGO servers for over a year and a half. I've always respected eGO for the professional and level-headed monitoring of servers.
I mostly played de_dust. Then one day, without warning, and after getting to know like 20-30 daily regulars, and probably 100s of people that play weekly or monthly or periodically - now that's gone. eGO, you don't understand my frustration?
Now that I have an issue and am trying to do something I signed up on the forum and started to share my views. As soon as I do that, there's no longer any discussion allowed. What is the purpose of having a forum if the people who play here cannot express views that differ with yours [THREAD CLOSED]?
Since Dust was replaced I was kind of mad that people did not come to its defense on this forum. There's so many players I played with almost daily that haven't said a thing - but now I understand - it has something to do with the harsh responses from some eGO members to criticism or just disagreement. I'm not a member of the club.
1. Primary reason Dust player count dropped - DDoS attacks by kid for WEEKS. And the eGO response was: the kid is right, let's get rid of Dust. Tho I understood the slow response to fix the server, it wasn't affecting the most popular maps where most of the eG and eGO members play, I don't understand caving into the whims of a child hacker. You finished for him what he set out to do.
2. As for low player count being the only reason to replace Dust - I disagree. I think that Highschool compared with Dust has had fewer players for fewer hours for longer stretches of time, even well before any DDoS.
3. Also, some eGO members said in the Aztec post, well if you loved Dust so much you should have done more to save it. NO WARNING WAS GIVEN FROM EGO THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM?!? Do you understand why that logic is flawed? I can't try to fix a problem I don't know exists.
Hope someone agrees with me.
