On killing right out of cells...

I've noticed quite a few wardens in the past few days find it suitable to give an order such as "all t's, step out of your cells, face away from your cells, and freeze", and then proceed to kill all terrorists that are facing their cells.

I wish to voice my opinion on this kind of terrorist execution.

While it's certainly a valid way to eliminate terrorists, it's also extremely frustrating for those who are shot. Sure, once you've been online for more than 20 minutes or so, you start to zone out the warden's orders - particularly when they're always the same. However, being killed directly out of cells forces them to wait 5-10 minutes for a new round to start; this is particularly irritating when they've just waited 60 seconds for their cells to open.

Killing terrorists in this way, in my experience, causes a lot of people to leave very quickly. And while the server might not empty entirely, it's certainly not acceptable to have people rage quitting for this kind of reason, right? That's my feeling anyways. It's more satisfying for a terrorist to die trying to rebel, or, to die playing a game such as climb or race - at least they had a fighting chance at survival, and they knew the risk of death if they lost (not to mention that if they die this way, they have a significantly lower waiting time before the next round).

So, in short, I don't think it's very fun or fair to shoot terrorists right out of cells for a reason like that. They might be facing the wrong direction, and technically, they're disobeying orders, but it's not putting any counter-terrorist in any danger, so why kill them for it? I prefer more creative ways of eliminating terrorists in a timely manner (i.e. games) because it allows everybody to have a more enjoyable jail experience.

Well, that's my 2 cents worth. Thoughts?

tl;dr

I did not listen to orders because I was spacing out, and got shot.

^sounds to me like your should listen to orders :)
Problem solved

Well you see funny thing about jail. It's about kdr to most people. I usually only kill people for being stupid, or rebelling. For example, if I tell someone to do something and they don't listen after 5 times I will kill them because they clearly have no idea what to do and I would rather not deal with it. But I agree killing people for pointless things like this and making them wait 10 minutes is unfair, but people will do it regardless of what we try to do because they aren't the ones that have to wait 10 minutes.

I don't usually look to see if people are even doing what the warden said, i just kill afks.

But yea it is quite annoying when I miss the last bit about facing away from cells. Guess you'll just have to pay attention :/

Usually when I'm warden I don't really care if they follow to the exact, as long as they are not rebelling and are in the right area. Amount of people in jail has dropped HUGELY in the last few months and I do think that 'Strict orders' are partially to blame since I've seen so many people quit after being shot. I also don't think that jail is serious enough to mute vent and pay 100 percent attention to every order and every bit of detail. It doesn't really matter which way they face because CTs should not be baiting, and if a CT gets shot well DE DUMS, welcome to T-LIFE.

The warden may not care if the Ts follow his orders, but that really holds no weight until he announces it after several people got killed for it already. If the warden gives an order to say, face away from your cells, there will always be some CT who WILL enforce it, whether or not you wanted it to be enforced. If you don't care whether or not the Ts really follow your order, don't tell them to freeze in the first place. Just have them stay knifing distance of their own cell and watch as miraculously none of the Ts are shot unless they are afk or truly rebelling.

See a lot of people get killed out of cells for facing the wrong way and then the warden going nooo why are you killing them. Oh, maybe because you made it legal to do so. No reason to give an order if you don't wish to see it enforced, as there will always be someone who enforces it, whether you like it or not.

Maybe we should be reminded about it's not just Ts that don't listen It's also the CTs that don't listen and you should see the amount of times that Ts get shot for following orders that let the Ts look around.

And when I'm warden I usually tell the other CTs not to shoot for the smallest things. Pisses a lot of people off when they get shot for accidently pressing a key once or not knowing the map and slightly walking the wrong way.

We should make the jail rules for killing Ts a lot more strict since when new players join and are confused about the game mode they start to copy other people and slowly learn, not everybody knows to type !jailrules and NOBODY is going to want to read the list of rules first time playing.

One is against the server rules, the other isn't, but still makes people mad. Killing them for following the orders is far worse, but that's something you can easily handle.

I agree to a point. I'm okay with strict orders like that for the most part, unless the warden is unclear or talks way too fast or quiet to understand or has mic problems. They're usually pretty good with repeating orders if you ask in chat, the only problem is when sometimes somebodyyyyy ( *cough* mr mhero *cough* ) types the opposite order in teamchat and confuses the hell out of me and I do it and I get shot lol.

I really don't think it's that hard to pay attention to the warden and just do what he says, but I do think they need to be CLEAR in their orders and would be nice to warn before shooting. There are many times that the warden speaks waaaaay too fast, or it's hard to understand or something is wrong w/ their mic. Also I think things like "FREEZE' should be emphasized. Like someone stated before, many other CTs are just looking for that kill so they'll immediately shoot any Ts not frozen. The warden should make that clear "YOU WILL BE SHOT IF YOU'RE NOT FROZEN" < for example. Same goes for shift walking or crouch walking to places....be clear as to if you want the CTs to shoot if Ts aren't following orders.

Otherwise, yeah it's annoying to wait that long for a new round....I admit sometimes it's my own fault for not paying attention tho, but other times it's lack of clarity, baiting, or even freekilling.

( can we get like buttons...lol)

I think one of the greater priorities is to get through the rounds fast, that way regardless of the reason you were killed - you won't have to wait so long to respawn again for the next round. Nothing worse than dying in the first minute and then having to wait forever for drawn out extensive games and chit-chat. By pushing the rounds along quickly people are more likely to stay in the server.

Ok I'm gonna start mixing up my orders then. Usually I just have the T's run to what ever I want to do first but I got some ideas about how to make jail better. Ill try some new ideas out tonight. Thanks for the concern and I hope I haven't been doing this. If I have I am sorry my terrororists lol yes I said terrororists get over it :)

If you don't listen it isn 't my fault.

Kill everyone who looks like a rebel, ask questions later.

This is the way to win rounds.

Also quite true.

Its all about a balance between fun, and moving the round along. yes it might be nice to sit there and chit-chat, making funny comments or jokes, but You should always make sure that you are keeping the round going and going fast. People dont want to sit there for 10 minutes, as it is an easy way to lose interest.

This me laying down the law of the eGO Jail server. T's fear me.

Any T that runs is a rebel and any T that stands still is a well disciplined rebel.

To be honest, those who play jail and die for not following a simple order like that, are at fault.

people whine and complain all the time about jail taking too long, or how they have to wait a few minutes because they didn't follow an order and died.

IT'S 5-10 MINUTES. calm down and get this into your brain: THE GAMEMODE IS BUILT TO BE LONG ROUNDS. don't like it? QUIT. i'm tired of hearing about "oh my god now i gotta wait 5-10 minutes because the warden is too trigger happy."

no he isn't, you didn't listen to a simple order and died for it, it's your fault not his. PLAY THE GAME PROPERLY, or don't play.

Seriously, get real.

P.S. this isn't to sound rude, but it's the truth, and what's on my mind.

To be real I never pay attention to ct and I like to rebel most of the time that what makes the game fun....;)
