Does cs:go have the same engine as the one in left 4 dead 2? I see a similarity between the two with their textures.

As far as i know (and im wrong a lot) each game valve puts out has a new source engine, or atleast an updated one. l4d2 is an outdated version of what cs:go is using. could be wrong though.

Yes, it is easy to tell by those annoying pop sounds when they are trying to notify you of something 'new'.

I believe so. The weapon switch is the same, which normally reflects the engine.

I thought that weapon switching is a model thing. As in you could put the css switches into any game supposing you ported the model correctly

Weapon switching is an animation thing, not a model thing. But yes, it is game-independent.

However, CS:GO does have some aspects similar to L4D2, such as the alerts that pop-up and smoke coming out of the guns.

The AK 47 is identical in both games.

explains why the game was so cheap. didnt have to waste as much on new technology.

typical valve

Valve has packaged the "source engine" an ever evolving entity. Which is just an excuse to not upgrade, IMO. I think once HL3 comes out, we will finally be given a new engine and a new CS game fit for competitive play.
