Questions on hardware combination

Hey all,

Posting to see if anyone here has had any negative experiences with, or knows of any compatibility problems between/with the following pieces of hardware:

ASUS Maximus V Extreme
Intel i7 3770K @3.5GHz
ASUS GTX 690
Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB (PC3 22400)
Corsair 1000w PSU
Corsair H80 CPU Cooler

why why whyyyyyyyy are you buying a 1000w PSU for that............. You don't need a 1k wat PSU that's just overkill.......
 
that supply will do great especially if he does sli down the road.. i see no problems looks good

The PSU, I bought 2 years ago wanting it to be future proof. If you check the rig setup in my signature, you can see what I already own. I appreciate the concern though, and I know I could safely get away with 850w and possibly 750w if I was trying to cut corners.

Na man no issues with what you have selected. You should have good results with that list.

I would ask why you chose the H80 rather then H100 ($89 after rebate @ newegg) or H100i ($100 after rebate @ newegg), may be a case issue ?

As for the comment about "way to much power" that is true but you already have it & I'd always rather seem someone "future proof" their rig if the have the budget for it

I wanted the full size radiator with the H100 series, but unfortunately there is no way to use it properly with my case (Canyon 695), nor is there an appropriate place to mount it. I actually had to buy a fan adapter for the H80 because my case uses 140mm fans. It works well enough though. I have my i7 920 @ 2.66GHz OC'd @ 3.92GHz, and it never goes above 85C on a full load.

Whoa, hold on now. $260 for eight gigs of RAM? I see that it's DDR3 2800 but that's a pretty hefty price for a marginal-at-best increase in performance. D:
 
Holy GPU batman... Might want to use it to heat your home/apartment/room lol :)
 
Looks great !!! You will be very pleased. Add a SSD down the road when you can! Wont regret it.

Well my current RAM is 6GB of relatively slow 1333mhz, so the new RAM should bring about a large increase in performance and tightness in timings/latency. Also, I thought the extra $50-100 for the extra speed would be a useful way to future proof the RAM if I decide I need to double it down the road.

i have a dell 24 inch now. at 1920x1200, been considering getting the dell u3011 (?) thats 30 inchs. Probably will wait till some new models come out soon enough this year since the 3011 been around a bit.

Nice monitors tho, the 690 will be pushed given the right game and max settings at 1080p. There's not many of them though :)
 
Just curious, you're obviously going all out buying that equipment, and I'm assuming you have a SSD and a nice fat data drive.

Why the are you using only 8gig of RAM? It's so cheap now and you don't build something costing that much money without the idea of future proofing. 2 more sticks will cost what, $50 bucks? Might as well man.

I am using only 8 gigs of RAM because I don't need more than 8. I don't do any video editing or more intensive processes that use more than 8, so there is no need. As for the pricing, doubling the amount of RAM I have for the speed that I want, nearly doubles the price. So rather than an extra $50.00, its more like $250.00. If I decide I need to double it in the future, I have the room on the board to do so, and it will also be cheaper.

The most intensive tasks I use my computer for are games and photoshop, neither of which will ever use more than 8gigs of RAM.
