I showed this to Teddy the other day and he told me to make it into a guide. So I did!
We all know how hard it is to keep track of the people you are trying to recruit.
Maybe some one says yes, but they can't join that day?
Or maybe some one else says they will get back to you?
But recruits sometimes change their names or you forget who you were talking to.
Well there is a really easy way to keep track of people you are trying to recruit. Steam has a system where you can create tags for people, and they show up under that tag in your friends list even if they change their name.
It looks like this.
As you see, it makes it really easy to keep track of recruits because the tags appear at the top of your friends list. I like to use five different tags: Yes, Maybe, No, Not asked, and No response.
That way, I can remember what stage each recruit is at. So when you open up your friends list and see gerbil is online, you remember to message her and ask her if she is ready to do the application now, instead of her getting lost in the sea of your friends list and you end up forgetting to have her apply.
This also really helps if some one messages you six months later wanting to join and you can't remember them (Yes, it has happened to me. I have asked people to join before and many months later they message me saying yes.)
So here is how you do it. You click the arrow next to somebody's name and choose tag as.
Now lets say Teddy said he didn't have time to join today but he said he would have plenty of time to do so on Saturday. So you type Saturday in the box and click add tag.
Then you check the box next to Saturday and click ok.
And Ta-Dah! Teddy is now at the top of your friends list and when you open it on Saturday you remember to ask him if he is ready to join now.
And that is it! Hopefully this guide was pretty straight forward and will help some of you keep better track of your recruits!
