So I met this girl last year, and we've been friends for awhile, but I've kinda liked her ever since, so I need some help on how I should ask her out, I don't know... Maybe to the movies or something like that? Just an idea, either way I figured you guys might be able to give some advice. Thanks for reading!

I've never had bad luck with "Hey, my name is xxx and does this rag smell like chloroform"

Just kidding, that is a terrible joke, but bad humor is always a way to get attention.

Best way to ask a girl out is to simply ask her out. Nothing fancy, nothing overtly dramatic, no trying to show off to impress her, just simply, "Hey Kate, wanna go get something to eat later?"

Coming from a woman, I'd say your best bet is to just be yourself.

"Hey, what are you doing this weekend?"
if she says "nothing"
"Oh me either! I was wanting to go see 'insert title here'. It looks pretty good! You wanna join?"

To me, it is always better for the guy to just be himself, not going out of his way and not being too cheezy. But that's just me. Best of luck!

That all sounds good except don't bring other people o.o unless they are couples cuz then its not really a date and also make sure she knows its a date, otherwise, BAM Friendzoned.

but yes,

Be Yourself

dont come on to strong

and don't make "The Wrong Choices" :)

see what I did there?

Haha!

My serious two cents though, don't go to a movie. Not as interactive. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad date idea, but it's not a good first date either. Mini Golf, Bowling, Laser Tag (if she's into that), Skydiving, Snipe Hunting, those are a few inexpensive and fun interactive ideas.

I'm giving advice so fair warning, my last attempt to get a date didn't go so well...

so 2 days ago was my 1 year mark with my girlfriend

i have a great idea but i bet i'll never do it so i'm sharin it with ya.

When you both have an awkward silence, go like: 'stop talking about my love life'

+10 points if you get the joke

It's super awkward if only one of you has an awkward silence though...

Movies for a first date is a bad idea. I find the best first dates are dinner and drinks (if you're old enough ha). Nothing fancy but not a diner because they are too quick and you don't want it to end too fast :) I say ask to her some place you both have not gone before or a food you haven't had but want to try, it's an easy ice breaker and girls like being surprised/adventurous no matter how much they deny it. Be upfront about it, just be like, "yo have you ever been to insert restaurant name here I wanna try it so lets go." And a gentleman! Table manners, appropriate conversation with the right kind of humor. You said you know each other already so I am sure you know what makes her laugh and that is important, but manners and being a gentleman is important too and will not go unnoticed. Holding a door open or a car door no matter how corny it seems is an awesome way to show respect for women, which they deserve, but is an excellent tool to woo a lady :) And ALWAYS pay no matter how much she tries to split it or take the check. If anything, she can pay tip. Paying is not about being the "Man" but being a gentleman. Men pay on dates, it is how it is and how it will be until you establish a real relationship. Just be smooth about it, take the conversation as it comes, and don't try to plant something in her head that might be there. You got this man, no need for advice, you know it better then anyone else here what needs to be done so man up and do it! The worst that will happen is you will be a no, maybe some awkward silence and then you go on about life as friends. Good luck sir.

I totally agree with Spitfire'd and NewJersey.

Movies are a bad choice for a first date, you are watching the movie, not interacting with each other. Miniature golf...let her win, but don't look like it, lol. Laser Tag, roller blading, go-cart racing, go to the zoo, etc..anything where you two are interacting with each other, are great date ideas. And x2 on all the being a gentleman advice. Opening doors, pull out the chair for her, etc...but I'm from the South, we take that for granted down here.

Most of all, be yourself! I know that sounds hard and you think you'll make a fool of yourself, but why give a false impression of who you really are? If it's not going to work out, it will never work out in the long run. My wife and I have been together for almost 20 years now. Simply because we were ourselves right from the start.

I knew I'd found the right girl (later became my wife) when this situation happened: We drove to a park. As she leaned to get out of the car, she accidentally farted. (And yes, she is one of those girly-girls) Without missing a beat, she said, "Ooops, I'm sorry. I was saving that for later." Needless to say, we were both LMAO, and KNEW it was "love at first fart."

For those who think this is embarrassing, wait until you are married. You'll quickly get over being embarrassed or shy. Or better yet, go watch the movie, A Haunted House. This is what married life is like. LOL!

We've had almost two decades together since. Everyday she makes me laugh.

Crap. I must have done it wrong. I did dinner + movie. Hopefully the relationship can continue on even after that mistake...

lol, well she is my girlfriend now, so I guess it wasn't that terrible of a plan...

Movies are terrible for a date unless together for a while or married.. Take her to dinner. Find out what she likes.. Little probing questions here and there to find out what she likes to eat. Find a nice place. Not Mc'Ds (even thought i want to do a rose pedal and candle light dinner at a fast food restaurant one day. lol) Be yourself. Don't be fake. Don't let a lot of dead silence, makes it awkward for girls and some guys.

Just overall have a great time :) Let us know how it goes :)
We as eGO are supporters!!

Make her a cake and inside the cake put a note and if she chokes on it... wait thats a bad idea.. Make sure you .. idk..

Just say hey, you me movie now, lets go and then run in the rain to the theater and take a plane or a train, but dont hit her with a cane.

Hey I'm rich !

Then she goes HEY MY NAME IS KATE

Then you go, No my name is rich.

Then she goes Oh I already have a bf

Be different. Not that I have had any luck with the ladies but I have noticed that being different (not too different. Maybe unique is a better word lol) and authentic. It goes a long ways.
