Has anyone been having random crashes while gaming in DOD:S? It's twice now that I have crashed tonight and wondering if it's this new update or something. :(

No. It is supposed to work like that.

it didn't crash for me

I think that is because you did not download the recent steam update. The new one includes more crashes to the game. So if it is not crashing you are out-dated and not running the game as it was intended to run.

... <facepalm>

I have not noticed anything Kyuki... when was the last time you validated your files? That can have a great effect on your gameplay, or perhaps there is another issue. I dont think its the update that caused it, or it would be more of us that it happened to.

i update all the time im always on steam when im home :P

never crashed here, and it's up to date so probably it's something on your dod, try reparing or re-instaling it

I get whenever I exit the game itself.
It seems to be steam issue. Im on Mac OSX

No error message, just crashing to desktop. Once on Strand and once on a custom map on another server. It just randomly stopped working. Hasn't happened in a while though.

You could try adding
Code:
-dxlevel 90 -novid
to your launch options if it crashes from here on out.

Yeah, I have my dxlevel set to the lowest to make sure I can run it properly without lag and not over heating my laptop.

Update: This week strand has crashed three out of three games I've tried to play. I don't know why it's crashing to desktop.

i have had that problem with strand in a very long time, i know meg had it once too. No other maps just strand.

Kyuki, can you go to your dod/cfg folder and paste the contents of your autoexec.cfg file? You should be able to open this with notepad. Client side crashes can be caused by a number of things but it's usually a hardware issue or something in your config file.

cubey, they probably stopped making updates to your wallhacks which is probably why you're crashing all of the time. ;)

I think you've already seen the contents. I have noticed though some red errors popping up in the console.

Check your video drivers, if you recently updated them then just roll them back and see if it fixes it. If you haven't updated them, then do so and check the results. Let us know how it goes with that, and if nothing has changed either way we will go from there.

I'm pretty sure it has been crashing before I updated. Usually when I notice my computer slowing down in-game, or a mini second freeze I record a demo and stop it to fix any model glitchings. So I'm wondering if it has something to do with that? Previously on the last realism (the first map) I couldn't see models or props at some spots, but boosting it to directx 10 solved that problem. I think it could be something with the audio. It does leave a "HL2" error crash dialogue box now, which I'll get a picture of the file report. In the mean time, I thought steam kept crash files?
