I don't know about the rest of you, but I absolutely love MVM. I love the fast paced, intense action and the real teamwork and crazy effects of 12 fully-charged powerups.

I have actually played MVM with a few eGO members and it's thrice as fun. I think it would be nice to meet other friendly members through this.

What if eGO had private MVM servers? Was this idea ever considered? Who loves MVM as much as me? Who wants play MVM with me? ;)

Love MVM!!! Its good to see valve actually making people want to play it now. Would love to join any one of you in it.

I do believe this was discussed when MvM first came out. I don't quite remember the specifics of why it was rejected, but I think it was something along the lines of it not being able to support itself financially.

I personally would like to see something like this, though.

I say we cut Hightower and Valve Maps!

I'm starting to play MvM a lot more this fall for some reason. I'm trying to get 100,000 robot kills, but I don't think I can ever get a million kills.

I am utterly depressed because my Strange Jag with Robots Killed does not count sentry kills. What a waste!

I cannot remember what answers were given back then (and I was still an O when MVM came out). But here are reasons why I see an MVM server wouldn't work out (not including financially).

If it was a public eGO server.
1. Only six people can play at a time, and the group may hog the server.
2. The server may be frequently empty or used by pubs when members want to play on it.
3. Admining would need to take priority over winning the MVM game. So even if you're on the last round, if a player breaks the rule, it needs to be addressed.

If it was a private eGO server.
1. Again, only six people can play at a time.
2. Despite it being private, the password would most likely go out and be given to a friend of a friend of a friend. (This happened with some of our member's private MVM servers.)
3. Server would stay empty until a group of members gets on.
4. Again, admining would need to take priority. Rules can never be broken on our servers, even by members. And when a member breaks the rule, it's a straight kick. (If it's an admin that breaks the rule, then leadership will be involved.)

Really, the biggie is admining. But if anyone wants to discuss this more or has an idea on how these can be addressed, post in the Dropbox, and we can continue the discussion there.

You're dead to me, too. :glare:

... here are reasons why I see an MVM server wouldn't work out ...

A public server would certainly be impossible as MvM servers are almost always full due to the automatic MvM game-finder thing. Admining would certainly be impossible due to the fast-paced game.

As for private; I can see the whole deal with the password and everything, but I think if maybe there was an auto-generated password change everyday (new password would be found in a pinned forum thread or something), we would be able to find non-eGO members that still join, look at the Steam friends they have, find an eGO member in there who recently/frequently joins MvM servers, and punish that member.

It's obviously complicated, but everything needs to start complicated.

As for the 6 player thing, this can be easily fixed although I have no idea how. I do know that messing around with mods or whatever can make you able to alter the player cap. I've played on 10-player MvM servers.

Conclusion: a private server would be the best option, no doubt, and would take not too much of a while to shift in to a safe and controlled server.

ps: I will never take back what I said about VM and Hightower c;

I have only played it with random people joining a few times and all the results were awful half the team just runs around doing whatever hardly scoring any points and I think I am doing it right by blowing bots up :P and then there is always the one calling everyone names and complaining. End result was no team work.

That's horrible! Bad players are bad. :facewall:

mvm is great but I have yet to see the perfect team that didnt fight over something stupid during the match resulting in folks leaving.

Wow, so many bad experiences with MVM :c
I almost always play with friends, and when I don't, there's a lot of friendly players.

I've had some really good teams from random people from the internet, and then more often, VERY bad teams.
