Cats are dabes. I don't know if I had anything to do with it, but I did talk about my cat quite a bit at one point. So when I became an Advisor, I was nicknamed Catvisor. The cat thing was probably already here before my ascension to Catvisor, but I think that help solidified the cats as the ruling creatures of TF2.

In all seriousness, I'm with Soupy on this one. I do play on other servers and I never take my tags off. If I do get any grief, I usually ignore it or respond with "let me guess, you got banned from eGO servers". If the answer is "yes", I'll ask if I was the one who banned them. That answer is usually "no". Then I'll ask them why they are taking it out on me? If they continue, I'll say something about how a Chinese guy cut me off in traffic once like 10 years ago and that's why I'm completely justified in hating all Asians. That tends to shup it up right there.

Most of the time though, I find the hater is not that good of a player anyways. I make it a point to encourage teamwork and we often end up winning the round because of it, like Kazoo's Team E. Ignore the hate and let your actions speak for themselves. You may just win over a couple recruits that way.

Generally, this is the case, but it is a whole different story in comp. Competitive TF2 has, in my opinion, a pretty wretched player base, and they are often pretty abusive, especially towards eGO. It doesn't help that many of them can also kick your patootie into next week. Comp seems to attract atavistic butt-goblins like roadkill attracts homeless people.

I've never had anyone in comp give me a hard time for being female though, oddly enough. If they think it, they keep it to themselves. The smack-talking is pretty equal opportunity.

I think that's because they've probably played the game long enough to get served by a memorable number of female gamers.
