Space Engineers is a game about, just as the title says, engineering in space. As is the case with most sandbox games, it has no fundamental goal. There is no finale, there is no endgame, there is no end credits, just you in the infinite expanse of space with nothing but resources and your own brain, and it, is, FANTASTIC.

Sandbox games appeal to a wide variety of gamers, because anyone can create something, can mold their own idea into a physical form. Now of course, that?s ALL sandbox games, what space engineers does so well is create a realistically acting world for those ideas and concepts to become working functional machines. With an amazing physics engine that simulates soft body physics and volumetric explosions, purpose and functionality is not hidden behind or made easy by code, you have to figure it out by yourself. It forces you to do exactly what the title entails -- engineer. The actual word engineer comes from the latin root ingeniare ("to contrive, devise?) and that is exactly what happens once you (and the game?s rapidly growing community) have played around with space engineers.

The game had sold 1 million copies a few days prior to its 1 year anniversary and released new content every week for the entire summer of 2014. Currently it?s in a bug fixing update stint but more new content is promised. It also includes FULL steam workshop support for world, actual blueprints for ships, and mod built in the modding API engine. Its rapid success has greenlit an Xbox One port and it is also being sold in retail stores in C-D form.

So whether you want to build ridiculously complicated contraptions, captain a colossal dreadnaught in a giant space battle, or just ram ships into other ships to watch them go BOOM, Space Engineers is well worth its $20 asking price. Be sure to pick it up while it?s (most likely) on sale during the GREAT STEAM CHRISTMAS SALE! (Note:The game is rather CPU intensive, so you might have a hard time running it on a lower spec computer.)​

This game is like Minecraft in space, with spaceships. It is a LOT of fun.

I didn't realize this until about two minutes ago and almost had a heart attack from excitement. I'm currently downloading. :drool:

I have the game myself, and it reminds me of minecraft before they added the monsters. The game is addicting, and it has multiplayer support.

I would highly recommend this game to anyone who likes creating bases and spaceships.
