Greetings All! My Name is Insidious Stalker!

So I wanted to talk about the recon class and try to break it down for people to maybe get a better understanding. So the recon class comes with the unique weapon choice for the class, the sniper. There are a total of 13 sniper rifles in the game you can unlock. I am going to break it down based on how they are used. I know people will say "Used? They are snipers! Snipe people!" But that isn't completely true. :cursing:

A little background on the purpose of a recon class.

  • Recon class is a sniper class meant to engage the enemy from a distance. However, the Recon class isn?t limited to long range combat. Players can equip their soldier for a more offensive role, and help the team achieve the objective. Recon class also has access to gadgets such as a spawn beacon, where squad mates can spawn, and a ground sensor, which spots nearby enemies.

BEFORE I start with the statistics of every sniper you can unlock, I will break down everything I will compare.

  • Max damage ? This varies, most are 100% kill before Drop-Off Start but some are not.
  • Min damage ? This is the damage that is dealt after the Drop-off End.
  • Drop-off start ? This is the point where the damage does from Max Damage and starts to decrease with the more distance that it gets.
  • Drop-off end ? This is the point where the damage will stay the min damage. Once it is at this point only a headshot will do 100% damage other than that it will be min damage.
  • Firerate ? This is obviously simple. It is how many bullets you can put out in a minute.
  • Muzzle velocity ? This is the speed at which the bullet travels without anything slowing it down. The person can see a bullet traveling at. If it is far enough they can see it and this determines how much of a chance they have of moving.
  • Muzzle velocity (suppressed) - This is the speed at which the bullet travels with a silencer slowing it down. The person can see a bullet traveling at. If it is far enough they can see it and this determines how much of a chance they have of moving.
  • Bullet drop ? This is a big deal! This helps determine how high you have to aim to compensate for the drop. All snipers are different and depending on the scope.
  • Mag size ? Ammo in the clip at one time.
  • Projectile ? What kind of bullet for the gun freaks out there.
  • ReloadReload (Empty) ? How fast it takes to reload the gun from an empty magazine.
  • Reload (Left) ? How fast it takes to reload with one or more bullets left in the magazine.

SO LET'S GET STARTED!

The list of the rifles are the:

Wow! Nice job! It was very informative and well done.

Personally Recon is one of my favorite classes (even more so than it used to be now that BF4 has C4, unlike in BF3, for Recon to use  ) so I loved seeing this nice write up of the different weapons and how they stacked up against each other.

Did you actually notice all of this while you tried different guns?

Ya, after a bit with each sniper rifle you can kind of get a feel for how good a gun is (ie high dmg, low reload, less drop) or how totally terrible it is *cough* scout elite *cough* and how it stacks up to the other rifles.

Great post! Sniper isn't really my forte, but I intend on mastering it haha, this surely helps.

I remember when the game did this for you, they also gave you a small history of the weapon

I remember when they did also. It kind of keeps the game interesting when you find people that actually look at stats of weapons. I do understand some people like the feel for other guns compared to some but stats help show where some weapons lack and where some weapons are stronger in.
