For the eGO BC2 server...

I'm sure this has probably been brought up many times, but I thought I'd throw my two-cents in...

Last check the server's ping threshold before kick was set at 400, correct? While this allows more players to be able to connect, at certain times of the day you will have more foreign (outside U.S.) players, especially in the morning, and they will generally have pings above 300.

It has been my experience that when there are a lot of players online with pings above 300 milliseconds (BTW, that is 1/3 of a second! A lot in FPS real time games) the server is so busy trying to sync everything that even players with 20 ping (damn u all! lol) get affected.

Would it be too much to request the server ping threshold be dropped to 350? 300 would be nice, but I think that too many players would end up getting kicked all the time and give up. And 350 would help the majority of players have the best gaming experience.

Dave, they won't change it because they want players in there.

Oh and there is no limit on the bc2 server. I've seen pings around 500 and higher in there too.

Good suggestion, but it's not going to change.

So why do i get kicked for high pings and lag like hell ?

I'm not sure, but he is right...there is no threshold set to kick for high ping. I was having connection problems over the past two weeks and wouldn't get kicked for 999 ping.

I get kickked, a placard comes up and says, :"Sorry your ping is over 400....". I check ping throughout my time online, usually it's 120-130 but sometimes is OMG 999.

Sub nailed it, No Kick for high ping.
But if your network, modem, router, etc is not up to par or older technology, Then you might have connection issues which cause you to get kicked. It might not be the server but then again it could be. Hop on TS next time and lets see if we can run it into the ground.

When "kicked" for high ping, it's the game that brings up a box saying sorry but your ping is over 400. The note is in the game, the kick is done by the game if not the server..

Usually games themselves don't have anything built in that kicks for high ping. Whether that's the case for BC2 (and/or other Battlefield games) I'm not sure, but I also have previously been kicked from the server for high ping (which for the most part only happens when the network in my area is overloaded..

I vaguely remember something about a whitelist or no-kick list for BC2 though..? Or am I thinking of something else?

One thing I remember another member suggesting that might help is going into your modem/router settings, if possible, and enabling "DMZ Hosting" with your computer. Helped me whenever it wasn't the issue I mentioned above

I was kicked the other night for a 500 ping, never had one that high!! I even had AT&T run some checks and they not find any problems on my internet..

Well I was in a team from Poland and I was able to ping at about 135 on their Polish servers(which is really, far away,) from Charlottesville, USA. If your ping is over 300 then you need to get a new ISP(or a new PC, or both).
