Call of Duty Division Reinstatement

Hello,

Not sure if any of you will remember me, but I was an eG on eGO's 24/7 Crossfire server a few years ago. I recently logged into my eGO account after a long period of no activity, and was pleased to find everybody is still doing quite well. However, to my dismay, I recently learned that our CoD division was dissolved entirely. Nonetheless, after reinstalling CoD4 on my computer a few days ago, I found many former eGO members on a few of the servers I looked through. It was great to hear from them after years of not playing, and I realized that all of our conversations led back to one thing - our time on the eGO servers. After catching up with the old admins, I realized that something - both regular players and former eGO members alike are interested in reopening our CoD4 servers.

Quite a few admins put tireless hours of hard work into keeping the eGO CoD servers in perfect shape, and our servers were well known as being the premier servers of the CoD4 PC world. Just a few years ago, you could enter into any other match, and people would recognize the eGO tags. They were, in many ways, a symbol of pride within the game. But unfortunately, as you all know, that division has shut down. But this interest - this care and investment that people are willing to move forward with - is still present. It's not like the players went away when the CoD division went down. There's a crowd out there, and they want to see eGO servers back.

Long story short, this is my petition to have the upper level management, at the bare minimum, consider reopening the CoD division. It's a game that needs - and would thrive on - a well moderated set of servers like the ones eGO used to run. Many of the old admins are ready and willing to contribute with their time (and, in some cases, financially) towards the betterment of this classic game. So hopefully this gains a bit of attention, and if you remember me at all, please drop a message and say hello! Even if this never really gets off the ground, I thank you all for reading and considering this proposition.

Thanks,

MacPro

If you have a PC with like at least a quad core that is at like 2.5ghz or more, definitely get Battlefield 4. It's better than any CoDs but it does get old quick.

We already entertained this idea months ago, we had 5-6 people interested and I even brought back a server for them. It fell apart very quickly due to lack of interest, a lot of people said they would help and were interested but failed to follow through on that when it was time to support the server.

Currently at this time I do not see enough interest to use resources for a server, let alone a division.

Cool gif...

I have an Xbox One on which I pay BF4, but it doesn't have the same "pick up and play" entertainment value. It's a great game, but I don't like it as much as the classic CoD games.

Regarding the comeback, I don't see how 5-6 people would be close to sufficient for something like that. I'd imagine that you would need more like 15-20 people to really get a single server going. However, judging by the amount of people I talked to today, we would have no problem finding far more than that. I think the biggest problem is making people aware that you're planning to reinstate a server. Going around in the existing servers and advertising, as well as creating notifications and advertisements would be the only way of getting something like this off the ground. The interest is there, but you have to search for it. To make something like this self-sustainable, you would need a big introduction.

We announced it at clan wide meetings and had front page posts for it. Believe me, people always say they want to bring thing back everyday. Currently we have no plans to bring back CoD at all, its a dead game.

Sad, but reality. I reinstalled COD4 and had issues since PunkBuster won't update it anymore, so had to manually get files... the game is dying off for sure and despite the amount of people still playing, it won't thrive again, ever. Without dedicated servers on the newer games, it's pretty hard to build up anything around it.

I'm in the same boat. I joined under the Insurgency Division. That died. Went to COD. That died. It's just the nature of video games that are getting older and older.

Hope this comes up right: [ame]https://youtu.be/nWNLYjk0srE[/ame] Levelcap did a good review about it and said its too bad we have to do all these mini fixes ourselves to play it. I wont, I'm not into Unreal Tournament style gaming.

What he said.

I was with the COD division from the day it started, so I know how you feel. And we did try to bring it back, but with the lack of interest in the game and the only 5 people that we had playing it, it failed. It takes more work then you think to get a server started in a dead game. We were very grateful for Op:X to take us under their wing for a few months, they even promoted one of us to advisor so we could control the server to our liking. But after about a month we were all burnt out. Everyday starting with a dead server playing against the same people 2v2, 3v3 for hours with only a few pubs coming and going.

Shutting the server down the first time was a warning shot to the regulars we used to have. When the server came back again, most of those regulars found new servers to play on or moved on from the game. In a way, we killed our division vs a slower, longer death. Can't believe we've gone so many years without another game like CoD1/4 where it had a good blend of maps, weapons, and dedicated server support.

It's too bad that things went the way they did with the games, or else we would likely still have a division and be playing.
