Hey everyone,

I know realism campaigns died out because 1) resources it took to run them 2) participation.

So my question is, if we started to do campaigns again who would join?

Honestly I couldn't imagine Glue and Stewie, with the rest of leadership, wasting their time with a realism campaign. When I was helping Glue run realism we started the very basics of maybe planning a campaign out, but we saw a drastic drop in numbers and it never came to be.

But we as a community can fix that. Start getting people to come to realisms. Realisms are open to pubbers, however the general rule is if you invite them you're responsible for them so bring people you trust. Get the numbers of our weekly realisms back to 13v13 or more, then worry about the campaigns.

All that being said, I do not speak for Glue or the Realism Team.

I know the 1st Rangers are trying to do a BFE and VIE like campaign. It isn't realism, but there is a basic squad structure and the maps you play relate to a region of Europe you can win or lose.

BFE (Battle for Europe) was actually what made me buy the original DoD back in 2001. VIE (Victory in Europe) was its successor run by former BFE community members.

the just completed their 0th Campaign to try things out and test the logistics.

If we can't get a campaign going we should support theirs. There are some non-!st Ranger members and if we put in a good showing they might check out eGO.

This is most important. The amount of planning, practice, and execution it takes to put on a campaign is astounding. If we can't even get a full regular realism, and haven't been able to for some time, there is no way that all the effort would be put forth for the campaign. Dont get me wrong, if there is one, I am ALL IN. I have participated in 4 or 5 now so far, and it is a LOT of fun. The numbers just havent been there, sadly. Once they are boosted, Im certain that serious talks of a campaign will continue.

I will try to make a few more I love the concept and have been to two myself in tehtime I have been here I just seem to not have long enough periods to play or with my comp acting screwy I just do not want to do that to the event
great G4ce is that guy sort of thing ya know:P

I unfortunately can no longer commit to showing up due to my job we work alot of weekends and I wouldnt be able to attend any practices because they are to late in the day here but if and when I get a position where that changes I will be joining them alot more

i would love to have this campaign happen. I might be quitting my job soon(personal reasons), but it will free me up for realism.

I have a thought, if we were to want this to be a big turn out why not try the last weekend of a month say Friday for the event and Saturday for any extras or people who could not make the friday night then people can get it all out once a month and do not feel whatever it is to try and make it weekly?

In the past, regular saturday night realism was full, every single week. And those who were there were only getting a fix in before the next campaign started off. As of now, we get maybe 18-20 people on a regular saturday night. If we did it only once a month, then the people that DO go every week would only get to do it once a month, and I bet the turnout would be much the same.

Honestly, I dont see them changing anything until numbers are better. Or if they keep sliding down, perhaps it will just go away and have it as an every once in a while event.

Just come when you can, dont when you cant. People have always had stuff going on in real life but always made time for some saturday night fun. Things are just different now, for some reason

On the bright side of things, realism numbers were up this weekend and it was good, let's see how the next few keep going :)

I'd come back to play a campaign. That stuffs v different to normal realism

true that Q-tip, what is the issue versus what we think the issue is? perhaps some sort of incentive to play it that would benefit the community in general to help bring those numbers up?

The issue is event attendance. Almost every single night we run events. While I will admit that some may not be to peoples liking or they might not even be home from work at that time, it is always the same small group of people that show up with one or two new faces here and there. Then comes Saturday for realism and we have low attendance at that also and while that might not seem like much, it is the problem.

We put on these events to break up the repetitiveness of the game and try to keep it fresh. It is not required to show up and have fun but we do encourage it. Incentive or not, if the numbers aren't there then we aren't going to put all the work that goes into running a campaign for 11 people to show up.

If you all want a realism campaign this badly then here is what needs to be done:

1. Attend events, realism most of all, you don't need to be in TS, but come have fun.

2. If you don't attend events because you don't like them, but have an idea for a new one then let us know. We will always try to take your ideas and turn them into working events.

3. Attend events, realism most of all, you don't need to be in TS, but come have fun.

Show leadership that this is what you want with your actions not with a poll, I promise you we will take notice and this whole realism campaign with be closer to fruition from that then from this thread.

Hope to see more of you at upcoming events!

P.S. On the off chance any one of you has no idea where to find the events schedule, the whole eGO events calander can be found here: http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/calendar.php or you can visit the wonderful thread that our head EC Stewie puts out every Sunday night for the week here: http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=297872
