Tech Help Using a TV as a main monitor

I have been wondering this for a while, and this has probably already been asked in the past but I have a pretty large set up. So currently I run three monitors: A HDTV 32 as my main screen, and two 24" side monitors.

So my question is, will this effect my gaming experience? I have been using it for a long time so I am already used to a TV screen as my main point of vision. However I have noticed a few things that I am forced to do, so that my stretched desktop is not effected.

First off, the resolution is strange, to use my TV I must have it set at 1824x1026.

The other issue is refresh rate restriction. While in game if I do not set the game to this resolution it causes my other monitors to go black or stretch into my main screen. The game covers it but this causes anything on the secondary monitors to be cut off. So changing the resolution isn't an option. And as a secondary effect my refresh rate is stuck at 60 with no option to increase or decrease.

Visually I have not notice any issues with this but I am curious if this has an impact on my ability to game effectively.

Thanks in advance for any feedback received.

Will it cause any in game issues other than that? Reduced FOV, in game model issues, ect?

if you game don't use a TV because that's a lot of space to watch also refresh rate may be low and also your eyes will be tired.

It shouldn't cause anything like that because it's not an extreme resolution. However, as the other said, your eyes will probably hurt after a bit, and it's likely you'll run into some latency issues. I don't suggest it. I know a few people who have done this, then switched back to a regular monitor and been a LOT happier

Latency.. So there's a delay between what you see and the reaction. I tried to play tf2 once on my 40 inch but I think it had a 15 ms rate or something. You get killed before you finish clicking. This happens to me in CS even under normal circumstances but let's not worry about that :p

Interesting, it does explain a lot of instances where I have been fired upon before gaining vision of someone. Or someone having a much faster reaction to me. Perhaps its time to switch back. Just been using a TV for like 2 years now so its going to be a odd change.

I went from a Samsung 27" to a Smart TV 32" and haven't noticed any lag or latency that makes a big difference, the human eye won't notice anything over 60FPS anyways.

I play on a 60" 120hz TV and I will first hand tell you it is a MAJOR disadvantage! Even tho my TV says 120 HZ, I am told that TV's are actually 60 HZ that up convert to 120 HZ. Thats why you don't see the option to set refresh rate to 120 HZ

Well I've been running on 60hz for as long as I can remember, and the tv was rated of only have a 8ms response time which is supposedly pretty decent for a tv. Ill probably concern myself with it more when I upgrade my secondary monitor to a 120hz one.
