Monthly Point Reset

I think a real update would be good but I dream. I would like to see more point's (10-12 points) given for a flag capture that would help get every one out of the camping mode.

The points reset has discouraged me to play honestly.. I can't be bothered trying to climb up the ranks again and quite frankly I'd have to sit for hours on end to maintain my place in the rankings.. I don't have that kind of time nor the inclination to do it. At least with the old points system I could play when I liked and play for myself to reach the goals I liked not trying to reclimb a point system.. I just broke 3000 points and its middle of month. It will reset again in 17 days so whats the point?

This is a good idea. I would suggest what London said but even further boost the points. To say like 100 points for cap out victory and 50 points for the main center flag. That is a huge incentive for the point players to move up.

Many people play for the sake of just playing the game. There is nothing special about having points. It does not change anything about the game. The only reason why points are discussed is because most players like them and it incentives them to play more.

My personal thoughts are, either don't reset them, or simply remove them altogether, one or the other.

The incentive is to play more for the points but with the reset I've found it not so much of an incentive to play more actually. I play far less than I use to before the reset. I've noticed a few of the people that I liked to play with don't seem to be around much either. Why or how do I notice this, when I look at my steam list on my IPHONE I can tell who is on and sometimes I would log on via noticing peopel were around I liked playing with now I just can't be bothered.. same thing your saying just a different opinion.

yes many people do play for fun and the sake of playing,theres nothing specail about points ,it hasnt changed the way people play the same players play the same ,,the same good players are battling for the top spot so nothing has changed, each mnth the same players will be in the top count,so why an earth do you try to fix a game that aint broke in the first place

well, 10-12 points for a capture, is a bit overkill, considering that even the difficult kill shots don't exceed 4 or 5.
and 100 points for cap, although it would "definitely" get peoples attention, is not very realistic.

i also see both sides, where... if you gamed for hours and hours to achieve a spot, then its reset. it would be
basically like losing a "high score" on your favorite arcade machine.

on the other hand, I think a reset is good, because this way, we can see who is "consistently" ranked higher.

Should we try it? well yes I think so but I am only a lowly admin, I should use my charms on our leaders. A lot of players feel more points would boost dod. But you never never know unless you go.

Take away the Mg's, the sniper rifles, the rifle classes and watch how many people move around.. oh and also take away the bazooka. Make it assault and the other gun and see just how far people are willing to go to gain points. It will be a total blood bath then with grenades, knifes, and shovels. You will see how far people are willing to move around to capture flags..Basically I'd love to see the sniper rifle axed completely and the mg's as well.

Finally, I got an answer to my question after a month, after reading BebeStars thread "Point Reset..." . And the answer was No, despite admins in game chat has said there would be yet a reset on August 1st.

Yes "EXCUSE ME". We were many who had thought that the Cubey "Monthly Point Reset" idea, was adopted even though the poll has continually been to the "No" side. But we were wrong. Good or bad - I do not know :mellow:

I have to say I was very against the idea of the first points reset. And after the first reset had happened, I was a "little" pissed off. (there has been laughed a lot off me as a Drama Queen :blush

Now two months after, I can not figure out if it was good or bad for the server. I have observed that we lost top players, but there are also new ones.

I could see the idea of trying to breathe life into the dying server with the reset and a prize to the best player of the month, but what was the result? I saw it as "Now there was really something to take care of my points for" and start camping a lot more. There was a lot of vituperation about my way of playing here on this forum, which I have chosen not reply to.

Now I've played a lot of hours and have won both months. I KNOW I'm not the best player (I'll Admit It ), but I have proved if a player game enough, can a player be ranked as the 1st forever. And now after two points resets, most of the former top player is still at the top of the rank list. What did the resets help?

In a way, the reset has made me play much more than usual, which is good for the server (or ? :chair:ahaha) But like last month I have again seen many top50 players falling off at the last week when they realize they can not reach the top and wait for the next points reset so they get a new chance to join the rank top.

So again ... I do not know the idea of "Monthly Point Reset" is good or bad for our playground :confused1: But I will not play as much time as I have done these last 2 months is for sure. I'm tired .

What now...? Will there be 6 years to the next reset or what?

I tend to agree with you my friend (Superman), my playtime has fallen drastically since the point reset and now it hasn't reset again.. This whole point reset thing was done why? so that we can improve the vanity of a couple of people who thought it was a good idea? The server was really really quiet on July 31st.. like half and half on each side at a prime time in the evening. Was quiet most of the day yesterday as well. OH well back to climbing a ladder in my own time and space. I will play when I feel like it an don't care where I'm ranked. Just goes to show that things don't always end as we think with no clear communication of what is really going on when we are thinking points resets happen and then dont
