I like Discord, but it's only good with some friends. I love being able to use TeamSpeak for EGO. TeamSpeak is just so much better for a community.

I have always been very used to the whole ventrilo/teamspeak type thing and liked it. But I do really enjoy text chat - a lot of communities I've been at over the years heavily used shoutbox or IRC. So I find discord a nice median. Hopefully we start using at least the text portion a bit more :)

For our communities size and needs. Teamspeak all the way. This poll should be about what comms program is best for EGO, not which one you prefer.

I use teamspeak for eGO because its what I am used to, everything else I use discord.

Just to poke your brain a bit - what do you feel Teamspeak offers that discord doesn't? We've packed 100+ people into a discord room before on the eGO one. We can set up permissions and rooms easily. What would stop us from moving there?

Discord is easy to set up, but the perms don't go nearly as in depth as TeamSpeak does. There are also the pokes and whispers in TS that Discord doesn't have. Those are the best ways to get people's attention. The biggest thing for me though that sets TS apart from Discord from a community standpoint is that TeamSpeak is that if I wanna find someone in TeamSpeak, I can search their name. Even if I couldn't, it's not that bad to just scroll down because of how compact it is. If we had Discord, if just our rooms from TeamSpeak were transferred to Discord, you'd be scrolling for a long time. Once you put 100-150 people in those rooms, you'll scroll forever to find the rooms or the person you want to talk to. Also, in this scenario, I'm ignoring the list of people connected on the right because that can be faked if someone set themselves to offline. Also, it's not a way to help you verbally communicate with them.

Honestly, the easiest way to transfer us from TeamSpeak to Discord without causing a massive Discord server would be to set up Discord servers for each division, which would just divide EGO rather than bring us all together. You lose the feeling of community that way.

Discord - better for text chat and integrations
TeamSpeak - way better for voice chat

Thus, I only really use Discord as a messaging app. Both are scalable for larger communities.

What Bolton said. Why fix something that isn't broke. TS has worked perfectly fine for us for the past several years (Ventrillo before that). There is no reason besides Discord is new and cool for EGO to switch. I don't think that switching to Discord adds any real benefit or advantage over TS. Can it be integrated with Maul? Most of us admins are trained in administration on TS. How simple or time consuming would it be to retrain admins on moderating/administration Discord.
