We have a guide for this already, though it isn't something you have access to view., and IMHO it should stay as such.
What actions we are supposed to take are actually the same for ALL servers and supported games. Jailbreak however has some variance as CT Bans exist to serve as an alternative to banning people from the server entirely for something.
Today I was playing when a someone pressed deathcrate button killing 3 or so Ts. They got a 60 minute punishment. What is weird to me is that when I did that on accident a few weeks ago I got a 1 week ban.
The rule at play here is free killing as it is 3 players, In I'm his situation what I can imagine happened was the player didn't know better and caused a free kill of 3 players. Sounds bad, but had he killed say two more players, the rule being broken isn't freekill, its actually griefing, a harsher offense.
Youdont give a lot of details about what happened in your case, but I'm going to go on a limb and say you killed at least 4 players doing a similar action, making it griefing.
Here is something else to consider, we are encouraged to use our judgment on a given issue and determine what is the correct punishment given the procedures that are set.
There a magnitude of reasons why the admin in your 60 min CT ban was give that as opposed to a server ban, which while dont excuse the rule break, it DOES change how severe a punishment should be given.
An admin is expected to take everything into consideration and judge how to proceed based on that info. This means that sometimes an admin should decide to use a different method of punishment sometimes over others. That is why you see variance sometimes.
I believe that posting this guide we have will give people wrongly the impression that for a given offense we HAVE to apply the max puniahment., under a mentality of "well I got X punishment so everyone else who broke X rule should be punished the same." This mentality isn't great for our servers because sometimes there is more to the story than Player Y broke X rule. Additionally I imagine that people will try and use the guide as a loophole.
Now, all this being said, it is entirely possible that maybe an admin makes a mistake and doesn't handle a case correctly. We are human, and not perfect. If you believe a case is mishandled, I urge you to make a Contact Leadership post in the respective section. Every report made to CLs are reviewed by an unbiased party, and will review every case presented to them.
I, however, will bring it up to some of the people responsible for the writing of the rules to consider the option. Maybe a method could be found that opens up some transparency but allows for flexibly of enforcement.
