Your EdgeGamers Story

I was always horrible at surfing and I couldn't see how people played it. One day I decided to give it a try, the server I found was eGO Beginner Surf. In this server I found people who I enjoyed talking to. From then on, I would join everyday to surf and chat to people while extremely fucked up while improving at surfing. My favorite eGO memories would be when I met Randy. Randy was going on about his podcast and we began to talk and at some point I got invited to their discord/Rejects where I met a lot of dope people. The reason I play on eGO is because of the community even though the Surf server is kind of pushed aside. This is why I play eGO! ♥

So this gonna sound kinda crazy. But I actually joined because of a horrible person.
So I join TF2 EGO 2Fort, right? Just looking for a community 2Fort server that's decent. Minding my own business, whatnot. This dude who we will call "aqua" starts spamming racist and super-duper obscene crap in text chat. So I'm here, right, severely concerned because the rules in chat explicitly say don't do that. So there's this small group of us rando guys who are trying to get rid of the guy. Mr_Patience Mr_Patience , who I'm sure most of you know, buys DS so that he can votekick the guy because we couldn't get an admin in there. I hung out on that server for like 2 hours after and actually formed a relationship with the guys that were trying to get rid of him who included Mr_Patience Mr_Patience Dylorion Dylorion @Haunted-Husky @RetroRenegade, Skeleskabard, and Rupop. Because of this, and because these guys were all awesome and nice I made a lil group of nice TF2 guys and we pretty much basically only play EGO servers.
Oh and I'm pretty sure the guy is either banned or never came back.
Now I'm an eG, Patience is an eGO and all the guys I pinged have their "e"s so that's awesome.

Edit:
Now I'm an eGO! :D

And I actually forgot I did this so that's cool.

Edit 2:
Now Dylorion has his G, I got TF2 MoTY, and I still love eGO

The way I joined eGO is a little bit different. I had just gotten back from a 1/2 year break from CS and was looking for my old server that I used to play on (giclan) and I couldn't find it so I looked up "deathrun" and joined the eGO MG server. While playing trying to find out why deathrun wasn't being played the whole time I heard a very familiar voice talk and ask me if I used to play deathrun on giclan, weird huh? Well I said yes and that person was Damon Damon who used to go by frost "which is why I had no clue who he was at first" then we chatted for a bit and he told me about the other servers which I tried and despised TTT bc I kept rdming and getting in trouble, so I went to JB which I was also very bad at but I am competetive so I kept playing until I was better and since then I have been in eGO.

I'd been playing CS:GO and the CS series for a long time, way back to 1.6 more than 10 years ago. I played Source a while too but preferred 1.6 back then. I took a long break and went to other interests before coming back to CS:GO. I played CS:GO a lot and while I mostly played Casual, it was still quite fun and I got much better at it over time. In the summer of 2021, I had suddenly gotten bored of Casual and also wanted to practice, I found eGO's AWP Only server and had mained that for a while. Through one of the automated messages I figured out the !servers command and found out eGO had other servers, TTT seemed the most intriguing so I joined that.

I remember being so anxious about it, not knowing much about the gameplay or the rules. I particularly remember sitting in spec watching the people on play to try and figure it out myself, reading over the TTT rules at least 6 times that day, and also finding out more about the TTT gamemode in general (I probably spent a good 5 hours googling). When I felt confident enough I ended up hopping into the game to learn by experience, it was extremely fun back then and there wasn't as much RDM, everyone was extremely friendly then too (the atmosphere is a bit different now). I ended up joining as an =(e)= a couple weeks later and continued playing TTT non-stop (I'm pretty sure it's what I spent every minute of my free time playing).

A month or more later I wanted to branch out and went to JB, that was a much harder learning curve and I pretty much repeated the same process as I did for TTT, only for a longer period of time. Back then I was mostly a CT main since I didn't know too much about playing as a T and found it difficult and boring, a fairly large contrast compared to now where I mostly main T but will go over to CT if there aren't enough or the players aren't great. I played only JB for a while (the crowd at TTT was getting worse and the admins were less active) before eventually equaling out and playing TTT and JB the same amount of time. When I became an admin I focused on TTT more as there weren't enough admins active on TTT, and also TTT > JB :).

Funnily enough, playing TTT and JB made me better at CS:GO than sitting in Casual non-stop, maybe it's because of how important aim and reaction time is in TTT & JB, or maybe it's just that I played CS:GO even more than I did originally. I also learned (very bad) bhopping, CJ/LJ, and (basic) surf because of eGO which helped a bit in normal CS:GO too.

I had a lot of fun moments back then, although my memories of them are fading away (anyone who knows me knows I have below average memory). I had a fun time in eGO events back then for sure, the liveliness of TTT and the friendly chaos was great, I definitely enjoyed hopping back to the AWP server every now and then too.

This is a longer story compared to the other articles posted here. Scarox93 Scarox93 and Mr_Patience Mr_Patience are involved in this story.

My entrance in the EdgeGamers community more or less began approximately six months before I first joined a server conjoined to it.

I have been an avid player of Team Fortress 2 since the 28th of November, 2015. Over those six years, I have taken extended breaks from the game for a multitude of reasons, primarily due to toxic and volatile behaviors / characteristics from select regions of the community. For brief yet distinct periods of time, I was unsure of where exactly in the game was a comfortable spot for me to remain in. The days of GmodTech and its roleplaying / achievement factory days are long gone and impossible for me to find enjoyment in anymore because of its dissolution, Skial transformed into a cesspool of racism and insidiousness, and numerous people that I become friends with came and went either because of our incompatible personalities and wants, or because of distancing for unexplained reasons.

I used to take pleasure in participating in the servers and games that I thought I could call home all those years ago, and most of them could not stand the test of time. Because of those circumstances, I took leave numerous times. I dabbled into some communities following the conclusions of these hiatuses, but they either dried up or proved unfavorable to me.

In the six months prior to my exposure to EdgeGamers, I was indulging myself into a small personal experiment which would hopefully allow me to discover a "sweet spot" for me to stay in. I was hopping into servers at a time and strangely found some enjoyment in them, but they didn't quite click with me because they ultimately served as one-off encounters with the people I played with. I wanted more.

I then stepped foot into a new 2Fort server that I have never seen before, so I began playing on it for a short bit and surprisingly found myself doing well gameplay-wise. I do not remember the exact details, but this is where I encountered Scarox93 and Mr. Patience. I also happened to encounter the epitome of what is wrong with the Team Fortress 2 community: "aqua".

The most racist, disgusting, abusive, and odious player that I have ever encountered, he made remarks that could offend every human being on the planet with slurs and whatnot, even going as far as personally targeting me due to my ties with the Jewish faith. My frustration with him quickly turned to joy when I saw firsthand his expulsion from the server by Mr. Patience thanks to him purchasing the ability to remove him from the server. I enjoyed seeing justice served towards a type of player that normally got away with it. I ended up adding Scarox93 and Mr. Patience prior to me leaving the server, and I was invited into Scarox93's Discord server. Months passed and here I stand, wearing my =(e)= as a member. It seems I've landed on my feet this time.

I never would have thought that the thing I hate most about Team Fortress 2 would be the same crucial factor that determined my entrance into a community that fares better than the other ones I've seen in my six years of playing the game.

Could've sworn I posted one of these before. Anyways, like santa santa I used to play Deathrun on a gaming community called GiClan. Spent the better part of 2015-2016 on there before the community started to die out. Started looking for a new community to be apart of and found =[pG]= Jailbreak and was instantly hooked on it. Fast forward a bit and Abdul made the decision to merge with eGO and that's how I ended up here.

And now, it is time for my story. I started playing Team fortress 2 in 2012, and played for some time on and off. Life happened, got married, moved states, during which time i was inactive on tf2. I tried to go back a couple of times during that period, and was met with unexplained lag spikes that made Team Fortress 2 nigh unplayable.

Then, a few months ago now, I was talking music with a minecraft friend of mine, and Stupendium was brought up. So here I am, surfing through his songs, and i stumble upon this gem. So I updated TF2, and tried my hand at it again. Naturally, i went looking for 2fort community servers. I found eGO, and liked the community. I played on the 2fort server for about a week before I met Scarox93 Scarox93 and Dylorion Dylorion , as well as the infamous 'aqua'.

I had been debating with myself on becoming a member for a day or so at that point, and, due to bad timing with no admins being on, and the general consensus of the server that 'aqua' needed to go, I made my decision. I became a member on the forums, and went ahead and got the Dedicated Supporter thing, almost immediately initiating a vote kick on 'aqua'. After he was gone, the whole server became lively again, everybody talking and enjoying themselves once again. As both Scarox93 Scarox93 and Dylorion Dylorion already stated, we got to talking, and were both invited to Scar's discord server.

Shortly after that, I got to know a couple of the admins, namely @Jeff7890110 and PastryFoxy PastryFoxy . Soon enough, I was asked if I was interested in becoming an admin, and now here I am, sporting the eGO tag. All in all, great servers(all of eGO's tf2 servers, since I've found myself being dragged away from 2fort more often now), great community, and good fun in my opinion.

When I first came to edge gaming, I thought it was going to be toxic and just never relaxed or nice at any point. This was probably most likely due to my problem with being toxic in League of Legends so naturally I acted toxic at first joining this server. I would never stop raging and yelling and spamming toxic phrases. Then, I found TTT and the community. The admins and player base there were extraordinarily nice and welcoming especially the admin team. People like @bakr and @AlKawai were far better than just nice to the players who were spamming rdm reports and annoying the shit outta them. That was when I knew I wanted to be part of this community, so @AlKawai was kind enough to hook me up and man I enjoyed every bit of popping off with 10 kill T rounds and 5 traitor kills as a detective.

I want to help spread this love to everyone and help promote a non-toxic community where everyone could be felt welcomed. I thank @Divine for kindly helping me through the membership process and am very excited for what comes next in these edge gaming days.

Roll Out,

Autobot

We all love EdgeGamers, but why did we join and why do we stick around? It's a question that only you, the members of eGO, can answer. So let me ask you, what is your eGO Story?

  • Why did you join eGO? Tell us if you have a great recruitment story. Who recruited you? On what server? etc.
  • Favorite eGO memories (could be of events, could be old members you have good ol stories with, etc.)
  • eGO Pride - Why you choose to game here / What keeps you with eGO?
1. I joined ego because a friend of my you can say said I should join since I frequency the servers. mainly frosty was the one who pushed me over the edge to join
2. I don't have any memorable ones but the one I like the most was when I was giving riddles to the ego surfing server and having a good time with joke answers
3. It was the first server I joined when I started playing cs:go and has been a great place since in order to meet new people, have fun, and hang out

Why did you join eGO?
Well, I remember my brother recruited me into this community, he wasn't an admin or anything, just a member. I remember being on the server with a bunch of people that sadly aren't here today. I joined it because I remember playing PG/Tango before the merging and it was nice, but when I came back after a GOOD while, I noticed it had changed to EdgeGamers. It's weird being back to be honest since forever ago, but It's nice just to be able to hop on and play whenever.
Favorite eGO memories
I remember playing with people like Larry_Da_Lobster, Custom Stats, Semo, Wing, and many more, I miss when we used to play old old maps like JB_Minecraft_party that was an amazing map that I miss so much honestly. Those were some of the best memories just playing with a non toxic community/admins.

eGO Pride
What really keeps me here is honestly being able to put in work to make it to where people who come on the servers whether that be TTT, Surf, KZ Climb, CS: Source, Jailbreak, TF2, ETC more enjoyable by stopping people who come on there just ruin peoples time. So I'm glad I can make it to where people can just come onto the servers/games and have a great time with jus playing whatever they want. I personally chose to game here because It's overall a nice community, and I'm glad I get to contribute to it by doing whatever I can!
(little bit of a weird community but <3)

Hey all, my in game is Oni. My name is Sam. I'm 31. Working in the Medical Field. Like playing CSS and Valorant sometimes. Hope to get to know you all better and game with you all :) Let's GO!!!!!!!!!! Love you Bubba's!
  • Why did you join eGO? Tell us if you have a great recruitment story. Who recruited you? On what server? etc.
  • My recruitment story isn't too long. I played CSS Scrim Servers for a years and then I met Dr. Evil one day randomly playing on some server. Became good friends with him overtime. He started inviting me to EGO to play and with time it just became a routine thing of playing in the EGO Server more and playing less on the Scrim servers. Don't remember what server I met Dr. Evil on, it was a long time ago but that's my Bubba :)
  • Favorite eGO memories (could be of events, could be old members you have good ol stories with, etc.)
  • Most days are good memories honestly lol. Its a pretty friendly community of people so you can make lots of friends and joke around a lot. Sometimes someone will say some funny shit and everyone just bursts out laughing. Or just infamous ragers. Good times :)
  • eGO Pride - Why you choose to game here / What keeps you with eGO?
  • The reason I choose to play on EGO is it's the most populated server all the time. Awesome community and the people who play their for the most part are all really cool and chill. Lotta competition with the rank system so its fun to try to get a better KDA and fight for a top10 spot. Friends and the competition keeps me playing at EGO. Lots of fun =)
