The title pretty much explains my suggestion.
I think this has been discussed MANY times in other forums, in admin chat, in discord, and wherever else. On top of the general discussion, I also believe that most players agree: When someone has been CT banned, they should not be able to leave the server for x amount of time, to return after said amount of time, and instantly rejoin CT. The timer should only be ticking down when they are alive and well on T.

\o

EDIT:
After hearing you guys' points of view, I must admit that I agree with the person only being CT banned as long as they are on T side, not exclusively counting alive time.

The new suggestion would be as follows:

The timer of the CT ban only starts ticking down when the player is on the T side.

Makes it so they can't go and do something else in CS (yes they can just get up and go to something else in person), also you could make it as time on the T team instead of spectator too

I guess? But at that point, what difference does it make? Disconnected or in spectator, it’s the same outcome.
I see what you're saying about it being a lot more of the map time especially for one freekill, but is 15 minutes of alive time really one whole map? Maybe if it gets RTV'd fast but other than that I don't think that statement is correct.

And I believe the outcome would cause more people to think about their actions rather than gun planting and whatnot so often because they don't like the warden.

Because right now, they disconnect and come back in 15 mins, they don't actually get punished for breaking the rules. It doesn't phase them, and that's how you get people with 20+ CT Bans a month, because they don't take it seriously.

Changing this at very least means that they actually have to wait out the time. If you're worried about players making innocent mistakes and getting severely penalized for it, maybe we need to re-evaluate what quantifies a CT ban. This has everything to do with making sure that admin interaction is meaningful. At very least, the people who just would've otherwise disconnected, and then hopped on after the admin that CT banned them is off, isn't gonna be able to just do the same thing again.

One map is 35 minutes. On average, you are not alive for half of the map time.

That’s why players with 20+ CT bans in a month are receiving server bans.

I see where you're coming from for sure. That probably isn't quite too fair. However if this was the case it would cause CTs to act much more carefully rather than willy nilly trying to shoot the red and "oops! shot into stack and killed the wrong one."

now im on the fence on this one, but I think something should be changed because CT bans just aren't taken seriously a lot of the times I feel like. All it means is they can't be on CT for X amount of time, it doesn't make them change their behavior 90% of the time.

Hol up. I didn't see this until now. I think this would be a great idea. Obviously people would still just dance around it, but I still feel like this is something that could help a lot. I would prefer the timer only starts counting down after they hit the T side alive.

Example: Player gets CTbanned for 30 minutes, so it slays them instantly and puts them on T side. Player disconnects and sets their 30 minute timer with current. -
New- Player does the same thing but because they didn't even touch the T side alive at all, the timer never started.

I used to be a fan; I’m not anymore. 15 minutes of alive time on T is at least an entire map. Could be longer, depending on games played and server state (tons of rebelling, etc.). Players should not be removed from CT for an entire map due to a simple free kill or accident. The easier fix to this is to CT ban frequent toxic players for 30-60 minutes instead of 15 minutes. In the end, who cares if they leave? They’re not ruining others experience.
if you play T without rebelling hitting 15 minutes of alive time on one map should be very easy as long as there are a couple rounds where not much is done due to other rebelling Ts.

i think the best way to implement this would to be to change the CT ban to time spent in the server, and to allow CTs to get unbanned faster if they play T, where every minute on T = something like 1:30 off of their ban

Well, that could work but it’s still better if the timer starts when you play…
We all know that some guys are going to do something, get swapped and then just go in spectator. And therefore, they could just go outside or do something else (except playing another game ofc).
If the timer starts when the player is a terrorist and ends when he is in spectator or disconnected, this would be a fair punishement. Even if some guys would just go AFK in the T Team, they would be swapped after few minutes

The only problem is that frequently toxic players are not getting CT banned for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes. They either lie their way around the CT ban or "swap" themselves for 1 round and (or) map and join CT back. Another frequent scenario is that the current map is almost finished and they swap for one round or two, then join CT back as soon as the map switches, and they basically evade a CT ban. The average player who follows the rules on this server maybe gets 1-2 CT bans per month if they play both T and CT. This rule would only slightly negatively impact "CT mains" who most likely exceed the average monthly CT bans, but maybe theirs is around 4-5. However, it is worth it because not all of those CT bans are going to be for accidental reasons ... maybe 1 or 2. In that case, implementing alive time CT bans would mean that the average person on JB who follows the rules waits 3-4 rounds for a 15-minute CT alive time ban, roughly 1-2 times per month and 4-5 times per month if they are a "CT main". Now, for the toxic CT main who frequently bends the rules in order to farm CT kills, constantly camps every secret, shoots you for taking 1 step out of the marker, kills people for throwing flashbangs, and blatantly free kills but easily avoids bans, changing CT bans to alive time on T seems like a punishment that is more than fair. There could also be an option to CT ban individuals for server time and alive time based on the situation which would completely eliminate any argument against this rule because admins could choose to CT ban people for server time for accidental free kills/minor things and alive time for repeat offenders/major offenses.

In short, I think admins should be given the option to CT ban for alive time or server time because it would make the server more enjoyable for everyone by deterring toxic behavior and at the very least stopping it for however long the alive time CT ban is for.

I also think that admins should CT ban people longer for evading CT bans, which is the biggest problem because after 1 round everyone forgets and they just swap back to CT and continue with their usual toxic behavior.

Then you have AFK T’s. Disconnected or AFK, who cares. I’m not okay with making the AFK plug-in super aggressive just to make sure CT banned players aren’t idle.
AFK players = connected players = better server stats (on paper)

and theyre not playing on CT

win/win

After much debate it looks like CS have decided not to implement this for the foreseeable future. Thanks to everyone for your discussions, we appreciate the feedback!
