Benefits of being an ?e? vs. regular players to the servers. Discuss.

? Are there any benefits?
I?ve noticed little has changed since my induction into eGO. I?m still the same regular player with much to say falling upon deaf ears.

? A good group to game with?
Other than having to now set an example and abide by the rules to a ?T,? nothing much has changed in this area.

? Events that are eGO only?
I can see how this is a perk, but nothing more than everyday gaming on the servers.

? Your first impression of eGO?
My first impression was an actual clan. A gaming clan that participated in, and held within it, tournaments in various games. I expected an actual tryout rather than just a ?plain Jane? acceptance reply. I hadn?t realized that eGO was as large a community as it actually is.

? Why you were interested in joining eGO?
I play mostly TF2 and I enjoy the environment created by the set of rules in the eGO servers. The set of servers are the only servers I?m not ashamed to unplug my headset and not have my son ask me what all these, colorful, words mean.

? Things you could go without?
I could go without the back talk when I ask someone to not use such colorful language. Understanding I am not an admin, I think I still have the right to ask someone, politely mind you, not to use colorful language.

I was just wondering what everyone else thought about these questions. It?s in no way, shape, or form anything serious. Just my idle curiosity getting the better of me.

• Are there any benefits?
Your words are golden to a eGO member. When you recruited yourself,
you were here to help build the organization. I'll leave it at that.

• A good group to game with?
!dbz is my only recruit as well as !endiment
They WILL follow the rules, they WILL follow orders
and they will have a blast filling up the servers to play on.
Good group? Oh yeah for sure!

• Events that are eGO only?
I miss eGO, but its the same as a eG.
Your not missing a lot, but you are missing the O respect.
eGs have word, but a eGO has final say. Events are the SAME.

• Your first impression of eGO?
I was invited to the website by some eGs.
A few e's as well.
My impression? I love it.

• Why you were interested in joining eGO?
No better way to say it, I live online,
my life in real life, im giving up on, im so tired, im so worn out.
When I get on a computer im a different person.
So take my real life time to help my life on the computer,
I hope you all feel the same way.

• Things you could go without?
Ban requests! A kick is a pain, but invite a eGO and I can make sure the ruling is fair. For you, I suggest inviting eG's.
Let the eGs do all the admining. Save the eGOs for personal problems.

Just my idle curiosity getting the better of me.

No worries, its discussion.
I'd prefer to see more responses as well.

I'm curious what the reasoning behind this post was. If you have issues, it's really best to be direct and to the point about them, and not dance around it like this appears to be (to me).

? Are there any benefits?
Sure. Friends, events, lots of servers, several different games, raffles, etc. It's a real community, and that is the benefit. I think that you can ensure that what you say is heard by just speaking up. When I joined eGO I knew literally no one who played TF2, yet by attending events and making my presence felt I was able to go from e to eG to eGO in a matter of a couple weeks. Shortly after that, I was an advisor for a short period before I had to temporarily remove myself to deal with real life.

You can very much be heard, but only if you want to be.

? A good group to game with?
I think there are a lot of good people here to game with. Some of them do so much work for the group as a whole that they never even _get_ to play.

? Events that are eGO only?
These are fun solely for the reason that they're with people you grow to become friends with. Other than that, sure, they're just like any other gaming session.

? Your first impression of eGO?
My first impression of eGO was that I wasn't sure if I wanted to get anywhere near a clan again. I did clans back in the days of Quake-based TF, and I was almost sure I wasn't going to like it. After giving it a few days on the servers, I recognized that these guys were nothing like most other clans. It's not just a bunch of uncivilized teenagers trying to make nuisance of themselves.

? Why you were interested in joining eGO?
The cleanliness and popularity of the servers. I knew that I could show up at most any time of day and have a group of people that was worth playing with, and not be forced to listen to a continuous stream of profanity. (And I swear with the best of them... I just don't do it in-game. There's no reason for you to have to press the talk button.)

? Things you could go without?
As one of our recruiting banners in-game states, punks. I could do without the whole lot of them. People whose duty is nothing except to whine, complain, or try and make everyone else's game unbearable.

Nobody should give you grief if you do a little admining of your own. The only thing we ask is that if there are other admins on the server, you let them handle it first, or if they don't notice, you nudge them and ask if you can handle it. It's not that we don't want to see you doing it, because we do, but being an e is also so that you can learn how we like to have things done. Some people already know how we want things done... 95% of it is common sense, but we want to treat everyone equally. Proving that you DO know how things work will just get you your G that much faster.

? Are there any benefits?
e's can participate in almost any clan event barring anything specified for eG or higher. As for falling on deaf ears: It happens. My best advice is talk to someone in "middle management" so to speak and see if they can carry the message. That seems to work to my knowledge.

? A good group to game with?
A lot of the regs are amazing and everyone has an awkward moment or two. But given the ease to become an e it's better to set yourself as an example player versus just wearing the tag and not giving a hoot about anything else.
Every group will have bad apples. it's a given.

? Events that are eGO only?
I can see how this is a perk, but nothing more than everyday gaming on the servers. Edge gaming hours and Late night fights are a lot of fun with gimmicks going on within the events. Good time to get to know a lot of the eGs and eGOs aswell

? Your first impression of eGO?
I followed Azznik personally and found that this place ran a lot like my old servers Tanelorn and Sanctuary. Fun place, cool people, decent ruling. Can't complain on gaming side of it at all.

? Why you were interested in joining eGO?
I can be a creature of habit. I joined because i decided that i wanted to represent this group in whatever way i may be allowed to.

? Things you could go without?
Back talk happens. You're an e and it's to be expected. I am personally not a fan of how meetings are conducted by i understand the necessity of how they are done. It would be chaotic otherwise. You'll have your beef with every group but if you can look past it you'll enjoy the experience immensely.

This place takes initiative on your side in all honesty. Ask questions, meet people, attend events and so on. It becomes a lot more interesting if you can find ways to integrate yourself into the community. May take a few weeks but it's worth it.

Aite here you go.

• Are there any benefits?
Yes, you are now part of a clan where you can get to know your fellow gamers better through clan events and forums. You can possibly be promoted, so you can help the server run smoother.

• A good group to game with?
Yes, with the tag EGO members are more liable to friend you, resulting in you getting to know them better, etc. Also forums can help you know fellow gamers as well.

• Events that are eGO only?
Loads of fun

• Your first impression of eGO?
My first impression was a place where everyone got along and had fun together. I have had some disagreeable moments in this clan, but in general it is just that, a clan where everyone gets along and has fun with each other.

• Why you were interested in joining eGO?
I played only on EGO servers, and i felt i may as well join the clan.

• Things you could go without?
Inappropriate sprays. Its a giant pain in the derriere to cover them, take care of offender without spraytracker screwing up, and taking a screenshot for ban request.

I'm curious what the reasoning behind this post was. If you have issues, it's really best to be direct and to the point about them, and not dance around it like this appears to be (to me).

Was purely idle curiosity. There's no real reasoning but for myself to get to know others with questions I not only asked myself, but ask others. I have no current issues with anyone or any thing.

I went about it, how the company I worked for went about getting to know it's employees. Ask questions that you would ask yourself, and let public everyone's answers. This way, we all get to know each other maybe more than we thought we already knew.
This place takes initiative on your side in all honesty. Ask questions, meet people, attend events and so on. It becomes a lot more interesting if you can find ways to integrate yourself into the community. May take a few weeks but it's worth it.

This is me asking questions and trying to get to know others. :)

Benefits of being an ?e? vs. regular players to the servers. Discuss.

? Are there any benefits?
The main benefit is the immediate feeling of knowing that whenever I enter an eGO server, I know there's going to be people who want the same things out of the game that I do, and that with my membership in the clan, that they know it about me also.

? A good group to game with?
Definitely. Skilled players who know how to have a good time while at the same time kicking some butt.

? Events that are eGO only?
The best part about those is RAMPANT ADMIN ABUSE. Nah, seriously, those are fun because it's nice to be able to take the game less seriously and just kick back for an hour.

? Your first impression of eGO?
My first impression of eGO was "Oh, this is like Jett and TexanGirlz." Anyone who happened to be in either of those during the days of CS 1.6 knows what I'm talking about. Clans that were interested in keeping their servers clean, not telling people how to play, but they were still skilled and knew how to have fun.

? Why you were interested in joining eGO?
See above. Jett and TexanGirlz were by far the main reason I was able to enjoy CS 1.6 as long as I was, so I knew right away I'd enjoy TF2 more if I joined eGO.

? Things you could go without?
Wow, this is a loaded question. Sometimes I feel like asking for the reason behind a decision that goes deeper than "For the best of the community" is frowned upon, and that clashes with my deeply curious nature. When I hear something like "It's for your good", I immediately think "Well, why is that?" I guess I haven't gotten a feel for whether I can ask questions yet. >_>

as an "e" you represent the best online gaming community in the world. that's what makes you better. Pups expect e's to act in an up right manner that's what made eGO famous

? Are there any benefits?
I dunno, could be. I enjoy the various events that eGO throws. Makes me feel like I'm part of something. But I mean, other than that doesn't really feel any different than if I was a non-clan member. But hey, I'm an e who has been around for a little over 2 weeks. Kinda feel like an outcast right now just because of how new I am. I'm not meaning to seem like I'm dumping on anyone with that comment, I just mean that I want to get to the point I come in a server and someone goes, "Hey Dogma." Part of why I joined the 352nd in the past.

? A good group to game with?
Definitely. The clan members are great. They know how to throw in a casual joke here and there in the middle of a game to keep things funny and light-hearted, but still know when it's time to give any tactical info to help the team win. They can be serious when they need to be, but can still have fun.

? Events that are eGO only?
What can I say? I enjoy them. Makes me feel like I'm part of something. I like meeting other clan mates and figuring out who I work well with. I learned in the e v eG scrim that me and C.P. Norris make a good pyro/medic team.

? Your first impression of eGO?
Well, actually my first impression was that it was competitive. Excluding the 352nd, all clans give me that impression. It's just because of my friend who was in a clan on MOHAA, it kinda burned the impression that clan = competitive play. However, I also had the impression that while it might be competitive, that it wasn't a top priority.

? Why you were interested in joining eGO?
Honestly, I wanted to scrim. The basic "apply and you're in" didn't really come off to me as a sign that the clan wasn't competitive. I just thought that it was lenient and casual at how you improve your skill level at your own pace. Once I learned that being a competitive clan wasn't what it was about, I decided that I still wanted to join because I knew the community was good and wanted to be a part of it.

? Things you could go without?
I dunno. Like Mo0 said, I kinda feel like I'll be chastised if I ask why council rules a certain way beyond "It's for the good of the community". I mean I know they're council, so I'll deal with the decision regardless if I feel differently, but sometimes my curiosity makes me wonder the deeper reasoning. The nagging inability to get into any of my favorite map servers. Kinda hard to distinguish myself without getting to play with other eGO members.

Overall, I love the clan. I love the community. Kinda want to feel like I belong a little more. I mean, I'll admit that I hope one day to become an admin and help out behind the scenes. I already read through all the admin modules for casual reading. I've been an admin for a friend of mine in the past during the days of the original CS, before source. I know what it's like, but that's its own story. However, that isn't my big hope. What I care about the most I already stated. I just want to be able to join a game with other eGO members and have at least one person go, "Hey Dogma", I say "Hi" back and then everything goes from there.

Well, I'll be honest with you on this one, as an =(e)=™ there really isnt any gains or benefits. Actually once you are an =(e)=™ your held to a higher standard of conduct, as are the admins, the DL's, and House Leaders (dod:s). But if your a mature player, can keep your cool like I was able too before even joining eGO, and put some initiative into meeting people around the clan like you apparently would like to do, you will get noticed and become an eG before you realize it. You gotta understand, there are a LOT of e's that don't cut it. Before recently changing too this snazzy new website, anyone could read the ban request forums... it was simply amazing how many e's you'd see in there. Made me sorta sad... people should read stickies and figure what they're getting into before joining. Keep in mind my whole speach here is for the DoD:s side of things, as I rarely play Tf2 since i bought it few months back.. as im just too hooked on DoD.

I cant say much for the Tf2 side of things, apart from some regulars i see.. but on the DOD:S side of things, all us admins seem to be pretty tight nit. In just the few months i've been with eGO i've met some amazing people from around the globe, and when I first signed up, I knew this would be what I was getting into.

DoD:S is an older game now and its getting a lot less play, so its important for us to keep it alive. And glad to hear a lot of people from Tf2 actually going backwards in time recently and buying DoD:s just as a side game because i keep talking about it to them lol. Heck, Tf2 is my side game from DoD. So why cant it be flip flopped for them?

Its great knowing whenever i get on, I usually see a friendly name in the server.. and have a great time gaming with them, but usually AGAINST them mwuahaha. Especially recently with some small hl2:dm games that i've been having with a few members on random empty servers, when we need a break from DoD or Tf2, or whatever it is we might play. RAWR

:o
Actually, I play DoD:S as well. I usually like to play on Kalt, which explains why I probably haven't seen you before. Then again, I keep getting temp-banned from Kalt during the day because my steam client doesn't authorize, and because I'm too lazy to wait that minute and retry, I end up playing on donner or flash. Seriously though, was there something about that I missed? I haven't gotten a chance to listen to the recording of the meeting on the 20th just yet. I just know that if it's before 10 PM CST that Kalt won't let me in. Which probably explains why I almost never see any more than 10 people on Kalt during the day.

Here here.....well said Badger. I think eGO is like anything else in your life. Dedication + Effort = Reward/ Enjoyment.

If you feel like your voice is not being heard or you have something to say, then pm an advisor, a division leader, or just an eGO that you are comfortable with. EVERY single time I have done so, I have gotten a reply. It may take a day, remember most of these guys/ gals have families, careers, etc. but you will get a response.

I'm very confused - what did you expect - you should feel honored that you were selected and recruited in the first place to the best gaming clan on the planet! Did you want red carpet everytime you entered a server? I like this clan very much! I am proud to be a eg admin. This website, all the servers are not free. I think alot is offered here for you to enjoy. As e you will get promoted if you deserve it and then more benefits will come, but I'm just glad to be part of the whole deal. I never expected anyone to kma. You act like since you were recruited its a big privledge to have you. You have it backwards - its you that is lucky. So play and enjoy all the servers that are provided and act grown up and good things will come. Just my 2 cents. Sorry to much coffee.

IN A FEW WORDS

The logic is simple:

Being =(e)= is like being an intern (recruit) you don't get the benefits of being a member but they will consider making you one. I've always reached top level admin on every clan I've been and council on two of them and one thing is the same, the more you climb up the less you play (more work to do).

ENJOY YOUR TIME AS =(e)= WHILE YOU CAN.

By the way, ever since I started playing in eGO servers there hasn't been one time where an admin was not present, so I NEVER worry about people breaking the server rules.

Is their clan, their servers, they don't ask for money ONLY to follow the rules and THAT is awesome!!!

• Are there any benefits?
I don't get kicked off the server for events and I get to play a lot of fun and rare maps

• A good group to game with?
Definitely. In about a month, I have seen more than 20 distinct personalities, none of which offend me. Most of these personalities translate into gaming styles, so it is very interesting to compare their posts with how they get kills.

• Events that are eGO only?
Do you mean the rank of eGO or the clan eGO?
I don't think there are any events restricted to eGOs, but there are some that are eG's and eGO's. I really don't know what they are doing.

Clan-only events are fun. We try out new maps, which I never would have found on a non-eGO server.

• Your first impression of eGO?
eGO had good servers, and most members followed all of the rules posted on the MOTD.

• Why you were interested in joining eGO?
I had logged a lot of time into the servers as MrAlgebra and had been annoyed that I got kicked off the server for a clan-only event.
I signed up that night and was accepted the next morning.
I do not appreciate people using certain words, so I was glad to see that this community followed strict PG standards. Also, people in this clan EARN their admin priveliges instead of having to pay for them. This ensures that we have competent admins and lots more of them.

• Things you could go without?
Too many servers to choose from?? I dunno, we have an excellent clan.

Guys and Gals, some of you are not understanding the idea of this thread. It IS NOT to complain, rant, rave, or behave like a child. It is to GET TO KNOW this here clan I so wanted to join. I'm not a very talkative person on Vent, so this is how I "ask some questions." This is how I interact, forum posts made to be responded to without being taken harshly. It's just a set of questions I sat down and typed out last night, answered myself honestly, then posted here to get the answers of others.

FalStryfe,

I think quite a few people got the "idea" of your thread. There were answers in reply to your original post, to help you acess what others feel about the clan. I think you feel defensive because some posts question what your motives were for starting this thread.

First off, don't get defensive over posting your opinions. There are quite a few of us here in the upper levels of eGO that listen to e's, filter out the repetitive and inane, and bring up the valid points during meetings. (If you haven't attended a meeting on Vent, then you cannot say Council doesn't listen to all of our members.)

Secondly, as an =(e)=, you have are held to a higher standard. It makes sense to want to promote the guys and gals who can follow the clan rules, doesn't it? It's not a popularity contest. It's your chance to shine. Instead of thinking of it as a trial by fire period, understand that it's what makes you stick out in a server so we can see how you interact with the pubbers and other clan mates. But you ARE important to the clan. You're not seeing where your place is yet... Our next round of eG's won't exist without all of you e's. Everyone had to start out on the same level, and while it can be frustrating feeling like the low man on the totem pole, you shouldn't be here ONLY to be promoted to top level admin.

eGO did compete in CAL, there are scrims amongst the houses, and there are scrims between the e's, the eG's, and the eGO's. But there is really no reason to scrim outside of the clan, for most of us, as eGO is more of a casual clan that's focused more on fun, friends, and enjoying the game.

Basically, FalStryfe, I'm trying to tell you that it's not all bad. I mean, I survived being low man on the totem pole once, too. (and the scars from that are finally healing, really!) Hop on Vent, talk it up a little more, and feel free to ask questions and add your opinions to the mix. I'm not chastizing you for your comments on here.. I know I have a tendency to come off as pretty harsh and blunt, but that's how I interact. I personally wouldn't mind if you did start this thread with a hidden agenda, because you made others re-evaluate their place in eGO, and their feelings about the clan. I tend to welcome discussions that hit close to home, even if it makes others anxious. What can I say? I'm twisted like that.

I'll see you in Vent, FalStryfe. I'll be the annoying one pestering you trying to get you to talk. LOL

• Are there any benefits?
Yes there are. You become a better player by following the rules and learning to play for the right reasons. You have multiple opportunities to play within the community and you have the pride of wearing a tag associated with the #1 gaming community in the world.

• A good group to game with?
Are you kidding? What a stupid question. Of course this is a good group to game with. As long as we continue to uphold our standards we should always have full servers.

• Events that are eGO only?
If you are talking about eGO (clan) events, they are supremely awesome. Love playing them. Once waited an hour and a half to join 1 event as an e because the server was full. Always helps to wait in vent and grumble with the other left-outs :P.

If you are talking about eGO (rank) events then I will tell you, there are fewer events that are only eGO and eG than are e. Sometimes I wish I was still an e.

• Your first impression of eGO?
A good strong clan with high standards. I was pleased when I read the rules, but was apprehensive about the size of the community. I have since gotten used to it and enjoy it.

• Why you were interested in joining eGO?
Just because. It was on a whim. Actually one of the only few good things I have ever done on a whim.

• Things you could go without?
Less punks on the servers.

It took me a month to become an eG, two months to become an eGO. I followed the rules, tried to set a good example, make friends, integrate into the community, and tried to exemplify eGO. (BTW, this is the secret recipe for moving up. Also add in that you don't need to worry about your rank. e is a supposed to be a fun rank, not a responsibility-filled one.)

This is the difference between this clan and others. In a few I moved up to a high rank in two months, another in 1 month. This clan you have to work not only at being a good player, but at being a good EdgeGamer. That makes you feel proud when you get that next rank.

• Are there any benefits?
Yes. To look like a B.A. with the =(e)= tag. You also get access to this amazing community.

• A good group to game with?
Absolutely, the eGO servers i always go on are always a blast.

• Events that are eGO only?
Its a perk for when you are an admin. I feel its fair.

• Your first impression of eGO?
I thought it was going to be alright. Man was i wrong. This is the best community of gamers i have ever been around. Everyone is so respectful in the forums and in-game.

• Why you were interested in joining eGO?
I have been playing on the servers for awhile and one day decided to go to site the game said to. It was love at first sign in.lol

• Things you could go without?
Not having rights to kick people on the servers. If an e asks someone to stop cursing they just laugh and continue on using their unintelligent language. I guess the ability to kick is another perk. There is always at least one eG or eGO in a server, so it's not really that big of an issue.

Overall i love being part of eGO. Even though i'm currently only an e, i still enjoy gaming with all the users of this site.

FluffyT,

You hit the nail on the head with that post. I did get defensive over what people thought my intentions were. I should have been clearer in my original post on the subject. That is my own fault for allowing myself to be taken the wrong way.

As for on Vent, if you can get me to talk; as so far only Purple got me to say a whole one line, I commend you. I warn you, once I start talking I rarely stop. It's my curse, therefore, I try to stay quiet.

To everyone whom has replied to this so far,

Thank you for answering these questions from your point of view.
