I was in an earthquake twice 3 times and slept through them all. They werent serious. but shook the house and I still didnt wake up. My mom would tell me about it once I woke up
Loma Prieta (6.8 magnitude) quake in '89. I lived about 40 miles south of the epicenter. I was laying on my couch watching tv waiting for the World Series to start when it hit. Shook the hell out of our house. Fortunately there wasn't too much damage where I lived. We only lost a bowl that fell out of a cabinet and got some cracks in our chimney. Most of the heavy damage was further north.
I have been in three hurricanes and one tornado, with only property damage thank God. I saw total devastation from Hurricane Andrew in south Florida on 1992 and total devastation the day after a tornado killed 42 people in Wichita Falls Texas in 1979. Terrible distruction.
I've been in several minor ones, although todays was the first big one that I remember. I know that I was like 2 when the one in 1994 hit, although I can't remember it.
Yeah, Tornadoes can very incredibly dangerous. I've been through a few growing up in central Illinois. There's nothing like being a child and going to the safe zones of your grade school because a Tornado is about to hit.
Believe it or not, I was in one in Ohio. There was a 5.3 earthquake that hit Cleveland and I felt the tremors about 30 miles to the south. I was at school. Was weird.
I live in Southern California, so naturally we get earthquakes every so often. This was a sweet one, I could actually see the walls on the second floor really shaking, but it only lasted about 8 or 9 seconds. But no damage where I live...
