Hardest class to play

Are we talking about scrim wise or pub wise?

Scouts in a Scrim: Believe it or not, he's the back bone in most matches. When it comes down to a 6 v 6 or an 8 v 8 he's the deadliest class, you know why? Cause he's not in a pub where his movment is restricted because of 5 sentries, 10 rockets, and demo's spamming all their ammos. Seriously, you can't bash on the scout based on pub play. Not only tha, but in pubs >.> there are crits you have to take in account and ALMOST all weapons that crit will kill the scout in 1 hit.

Spy in a scrim: The spy is a one trick pony -.-, he barely gets any action in matches, cause as soon he attacks, sap, etc. It's pretty obvious in a match he'd be sticking out like a pimple O.o. Teams are more coordinated with an 8 v 8.

Scouts in pub: Yes, they're worthless cause of the restricted areas, BUT when you find a map that is open, wide *like black mesa* they can be annoying as hell, especially when you come across a pubstar >.> . The scouts rule the control point A O_O!~

Spy in pub: They're useful, fun, and sometimes annoying :P. Teams are not always coordinated, so spies are there to create even more chaos amongst them and try to make everyone leave the pub. Trust me >.> I made everyone leave cashwork once XD :P. I think i remember I made Tc quit out of pure rage :]..i lul'd <3 XD.

Spies and scouts can not be bashed based on pub play >.>, and if you want to....go in mIRC and join #tf2ringers, #tf2pugs, #tf2pugs2, find a team. Or if you have a comepetitive team on your friends list asked them to let you ring and record a demo for me :]. Kkthanbai.

Sorry if it sounds like i'm trolling :P but I got tired of reading all these people saying "ARG THE SCOUT IS USELESS, AND OMG THE SPIES THE HARDEST CAUSE THEY SPY CHECKSSSSSSSSS" seriously is spy checking really that hard to avoid?! Just find height advantage and go for the air stab.

I completely understand what PieSauruS[EMB] is saying, how public games and actual competitive gameplay differs by a lot. But I'm assuming the original topic creator is basing this off of public games? (Along with almost everyone else).

I too, would have to say spy is hardest to play. Maybe because that's the class I have the least amount of time on it. ;P I'm not too sure on what's next up on the difficulty level, although I found the Demoman is hard to play. I see lots of people saying Demoman is easy to play, and how a team can't have too many Demos. It could be because I'm still new, but I can hardly get kills as a Demo, sometimes I wait forever for enemies to turn corners so I can blow up them sticky bombs. The grenade launcher is hard for me to aim with, as I'm way too used to grenade throwing on CS:S.

Getting back to the spy, from what I've experienced, I always get try to run into the enemy territory in cloak, but the time runs out fairly quickly so I'm forced to just run straight in. When I do that, I usually get hit by Pyro fire or just massed bullet spam. Running into enemies is a downer as well, as you get blocked and they immediately start shooting. I guess it's not that hard if you can sneak away into killing one person and cloaking again.

Why haven't I said scout is the hardest or one of the harder classes to play? It's because I used to play GunZ, A LOT. If anyone has played Gunz, they would know what I'm talking about, and how the Scout closely resembles the fast paced game style of Gunz (Especially that 99% of Gunz players use shotguns). I've gotten pretty accustomed to aiming quickly with one shot, pump shotties. I like to play Sniper or scout on 2fort, quickly taking the enemy intelligence, dropping it, picking it up again, and again until it's close enough to secure it. ;D

For me, the easiest classes would be Pyro and Medic. I've played those 2 classes the most, and have the most Pyro achievments. I think 27/38? Being a Pyro, you don't have to aim at all, just hold down your mouse button and spin around until the enemy dies. I love it when I get ubered and we just charge in holding down the mouse, and automatically get 5+ kills.

Medic isn't hard at all for me, I just sit back, heal teammates and run whenever I get hit. I'll have Ubers charged up and use them up on Heavies and Pyroes. I'm aiming for that 'First Do No Harm' achievement still. Anyways, that's my two-cents about the TF2 classes.

I've got to say the heavy.

The attack options are limited and the damage per second is too low for both people and equipment. With just about every other class you can concentrate fire - but the heavy almost always ends up as a suppressing filre type support. Even the NG, with a level 3 sentry, has a better chance to glib the opponent. Snipers make quick work of a heavy. I'll tend to kritz/uber a solder/demo (and uber pyro) before I activate on a heavy, as do others. You have to find the perfect map/spot to make this class work.

The other classes have a wide assortment of tricks. Rocket/sticky jumps, airblast, double jump, construction, and the spy (of course). The heavy is by far the hardest to do anything with, if you go up against a competent opponent. I was not impressed by the heavy unlocks.... Here I was hoping for a slow firing, but high damage cannon - and they give me a sandwich and gun that does even less damage (while slowing the target).

Your absolutely right. Most maps you cannot fully utilize the heavy. It is best to find a choke point or small part of the map, say, like vent systems etc. I find that spinning and unspinning the mg the takes far too long, so people can easily ambush and/or run away.

Sniper, spy and scout. Sniper takes skill to play it genuinely good, but you can get off with fully charged body shots easy enough. Scout overall takes a lot of skill to aim with, but betting is fairly easy. Spy is just straight up challenging. Personally, I think spy is in the biggest need for an update.

I'd say that the spy is the hardest. I'm not too great at sneaking past their front lines and getting behind them all ;)

Personally, ive got over 200 hours played as spy...and still havent figured out all the tricks to a spy, but i wouldnt go as far as say that its the hardest class. In my opinion, scout has to be one of the hardest classes. Ive seen some awsome scouts that dominate the boards and have top scores, That takes serious skill.

165 hours as spy, and I have to say.

Playing a fantastic scout is so much more entertaining than playing a fantastic spy. Taking down an overhealed Heavy, his Medic, and a Soldier as a lone scout is quite possibly the coolest thing you can do in this game. Period.

Bonk.

Spy by far, however, I would say medic is right up there. Ya any noob can just stand behind a meat shield, but it takes skill to stay alive for long periods of time, learning what to do at what times (including making an exit), and know when to use ubers and when not to.

I'd say "spy," but I think every class has a similar "learning curve" to get from n00b to awesome.

However, learning how to be awesome with a class requires that you stay alive long enough to practice it. Spy and Scout are hard to stay alive long enough to get good with it, making them more difficult.

Easiest? Engineer and Medic. Engineer because you stay far enough back that, as long as you keep an eye out for spies, you can stay alive for a long time and practice. Medic because you get to stand behind a big meat shield and practice.

That's not to say that either class is "easy" :D

Personally. Everyone has their own playstyles and getting the learning curve to classes that you're not somewhat familiar with is a bit "Blech" to master.

For me it's the Heavy and Scout. Probably because I hate being the stationary target and my mouse sensitivities are so high that I can't get the scouts double jumps right without feeling like I'm having a seizure.

Strangely, Medic, Pyro (Pre-Buff to godly/scrubly ness), Engineer and Spy were my favors from the start. Medic and Spy are my favors to this day and I still believe rather whole-heartedly that they really dumbed the Spy class down with this last buff- yet made him more critical than ever before with the engineer buff (teleporters, om nom nom). I've become horribly rusty with the sniper.

Yeah. I tried to keep things somewhat even and have about 100 hours played as every class shy of the Heavy who I have about 30 on. The thing that urks me the most about scout now is post-patch the scattergun seems to have become almost full-blown random on damage (1-120) and isn't nearly as heavily based on range anymore, unless you're directly point blank on someone; which you may as well play a spy at that point, imho.

I've come to play Scout and Soldier far more often these days just due to the fact that Soldier is a straight jack of all trades and Scout has so many sneak routes to take on people and catch them by surprise.

besides being critted, the other most usual way of dieing is a med who doesn't uber untill I am dead and he runs away ubered back to spawn. It is pretty common, you have no idea how many medics make that mistake

It makes me cringe when I see medics who do that. Another problem I see often is medics who will build up an uber, not use it, and then die with it. I constantly tell medics that its better to use it early then to die with it. But I can go on forever with mistakes that make me cringe...so I'll just stop here.

struggling with the heavy class even though you just point and shoot without a medic almost asking to get owned by snipers/pyros

I think it depends on the class and how you play them. Spy is pretty hard though, I cringe when a good spy joins the server and I am playing Engi.
