Which is better?

Doom 2

or

Duke Nukem

Personally, I like Doom 2 more because Duke nukem tries to copy Doom in a lot of aspects.

Duke Nukem first game I ever played I was 3 years old I love the football level (if anyone knows what I'm talking about)

What ya waiting for, Christmas?

Quaffer and I started out with Doom 1 and eventually moved to Duke Nukem (amongst others). We played Doom 1 at the end of the work day on Sun Work Stations. He was in charge of these VERY expensive beasts as well as being one of our lead engineers at the time. The game was being promoted more to show off the machines as they were built for Engineering CAD use and not for games. He was the administrator of those systems and knew the intricate details necessary to bridge the two machines. I don't know that I would be into multiplayer gaming if it had not been for Quaffer. That was a lot of years ago.

I have not seen Doom 2 and I won't expand on Doom 1 as that is not one of your choices. But for Duke Nukem, we were able to play on our measly modems that we used to connect to each other's computer. Neither of us had access to a network connection beyond the phone line at 12/24K Baud at that time. It was great because we could play head to head and still communicate with each other through the text messages. The other great thing about Duke Nukem was the maps. There were several sights popping up that promoted their own maps which were geared toward 1-on-1 play. I think we both were a bit saddened when technology passed up Duke Nukem and we could not play it on our updated computers and newer windows versions way back when. We also found that there was a large following of Duke Nukem, and that various people at work had played it. Cedar Point *Roller Coaster Amusement Park* used to have a 3D version of Duke Nukem where the players wore these helmets with teathered guns and others could watch them play on large screens around the play area. The lines were always too long for me to try that.

I would be curious what kind of following and support Doom 2 had.
