Computer not reading Monitor

Okay this is about the 10th time this has happen. After turning off my computer for the night and then returning the next day to start it up, the computer would not read the monitor. The power on both the Computer and Monitor work. THe computer turns on like normal, but the monitor will just not turn on. My monitor driver is up to date and all my video card drivers are up to date. Im guessing it has something to do with the Mobo. The way i fix this is actually taking out all the components and restarting the motherboard by taking out the mobo battery and then reinstall all the parts. Then when i reboot, My monitor then works! Im thinking about upgrading the bios, but i dont want to do that if i dont have to.

Upgrading the bios may or may not fix it, but even if it doesn't I still recommend keeping your bios up to date.

As for the issue, I can't think of anything except bios update and video card driver update.

It may just have been your video card not being seated well in it's slot. Any time I move my pc the same thing happens cause the waterblocks are heavy and pull the cards out of the slot just a little bit, but it's enough to cause issues. The back of your case may also be a little bent so it also may pull your card out a little.

Aye check your video card seating.

If you using any cable adapters I suggest you don't and get the real cable you need. If you card has 2 DVI and your converting to AVI because your moniter only runs AVI, then upgrade your monitor and use the DVI to DVI cable.

I prefer monitors with both DVI and AVI ports. I don't use adapters either. Use a quality brand cable and one that your fingers can easily grip the locking screws. You may have to really look around for one that will be easy on your fingers.

By the monitor "just not turn on" I think you mean no signal.

Pull the cables out of the sockets and replug them back in making sure they are correctly seated. If that doesn't work then I suggest replacing the power and signal cable if video card seating and retrying the cables does not fix your problem.

If you don't want to buy cables then hook your monitor up to another computer you have or a friend's computer to see if it works. If the monitor doesn't work on theirs then your root of the problem is the monitor itself.

I know this may not make difference, but in bios are you set to boot up as which type of card...check that. Also, are you performing any overclocking to your system what so ever?

that has happened to me after i drove my desktop to my new home and all i had to do was make sure there was no strain on the video card, and pull and put my power cords back in and it works fine ever since, so that might be the problem

It is set to boot up as PCI, but ive tried PCI-E as well and they both work the same.

No i am not OCing anything right now. I actually do not know how many watts my PSU is. how do i find out>

It might be Bios/Cmos

the watts are printed somewhere on the psu. flashing your bios isnt that big a deal, certainly less than restarting your mobo. if that doesnt do it then most likely the cmos isnt storing something right, youll prolly need a new mobo for that.

welll i updated the bios the the most recent version. That was 3 days ago and i havent had any problems so far. I also made sure all connections were securely in place as well. So hopefully the problem is fixed. Thanks for the input everyone. If i have any more problems regarding this ill will be back on here. Thanks again.

Glad to hear you got your problem solved. One more thing you may want to do in the future is turn off power management, as that can cause problems sometimes.
