Well, I suppose I'm going to be the odd ball here and vote for speakers. Really, it all depends on the situation, though. For the normal PC gamer, headphones are going to (for the most part) WAY outperform any comparable solution.

I'm a somewhat special case in this instance, though, as my PC is hooked into my HT room. Of course I still have my trusty set of cans (Beyerdynamic DT-770s) if ever I need them, but to be honest, I don't think I would willingly go back to using them as my default listening device. Headphones just can't compares to the BIG sound you can get from speakers and a dedicated powered sub.

Well, it's just different, really. Each is good in it's own respect, but I would certainly feel pretty silly playing on a 110" projection screen with headphones on. :biggrin:

Same and I hate when people use a mic without headphones/headset. Hearing excess gunfire and footsteps is annoying.

ya for gaming, headphones are way better. tho when im just playing for fun, like for say the jail server i won't always wear my headphones because they are not that comfortable long term. also headphones because when you're playing CSS at 1-2 am you don't want to be waking up the roomy!

Speakers. I already had them, I have a junky headset so I can use that just for the mic, and they're apparently better for your ears or something.

i dont use headphones now, i just use speakers, cause i dont scrim anymore. i have surround sound speakers, so if i turn them up loud enough i can hear pretty much anything. my brother is a dj, so he has like $500 headphones, if i need to, i can bring on the pain and dish out some pwnage but i never get serious anymore, i just play for fun XD
