    look for faster memory timings too, AMD is really sensitive to memory timings and start with a faster drive like a Raptor but if you want a really responsive drive, get a 15K Ultra 320 drive and card, its like night and day

    if you can go dual or quad core with that socket, go for it. im hesitant on a recommendation cause i can't recall the latest intel socket that supports a Q6600 but if i had one that did, that would be where i'd start at, take the rest and date some chicks.... back to the subject, if you still...

    i think the intel socket will be done by the end of next year and when Nahelem comes out there will be 2 or 3 different sockets for that architech and btw which will include IQP=AMD, HT and then the memory gap will have been closed... but the good thing is you will have the option of aHIGH-K...
