Ok, I'm getting a lot of negative feelings on the boards these days. Anger, rage, bad vibes, that sort of thing. So this thread is going to be our little healing session.

What I, and anyone who wants to join me, are going to do is help YOU, the other members of eGO, enjoy TF2 more. I'm going to do this by giving you tips and help, coming from a player who's got plenty of time on all the classes and likes to think he's got a good grasp of the mechanics of the game.

You guys are going to talk about weapons and abilities you have trouble with. Whether you keep getting killed by a certain weapon, or you can't personally use another weapon effectively, you come here to get the two cents from your peers in eGO. Relax, try something new, and get a little better at the game, all at the same time!

This thread is NOT, I repeat NOT, going to be a cry-fest or a complaint thread about which weapons you don't like for whatever reason. Right now, we got what we got, and in the spirit of good sportsmanship, we're going to have fun with them. And if we can't have fun, why are we still playing the game?

Here are some guidelines for any contributors:
1. Everything can be useful, think outside the box!
2. It's not what the weapon can do, its how you respond to it.
3. No class is supposed to be anything. What crazy new playstyles can YOU think of?

And the golden rule:
Just have fun with it!

Iron horsing in Black Mesa (camping above the gateways near points K and B) always throws off my game, and I'm tired of having to pull out an uber or go stabbity stab sappity-sap on enemies that do. My usual classes of choice on BM are Pyro and Scout. Any advice?

I use a variation of the iron horse which involes luring instead of camping =P

Use bonk, this will get the demo to relay his stickies because he probably detonated them when you ran past, then jump into the vent opening on the right, use bonk to pass the grate again then you can just use your scattergun to take out the demo.

I have trouble with scouts/pyros (from around the corner) My most played is demo, and I know scouts and pyros when surprised is a hard counter for demo, but do you guys have any tips on how I could get rid of them more easily? I usually just lay stickies and hope to God they run over them... Which I hate relying on sheer luck to get a kill. Any suggestions?
The pyros always outrun me too, and the nades are kinda tricky killing the pyros as they move in a weird way, and sometimes I fail to kill them. I have 222 hours on demo and I don't want to give up on using him because of the same class(s) that always kill me with a 8/10 success rate.
The guys on vent know when I get angry, because I usually complain about how much I hate scouts. It just frustrates me and I just wanna log off after this. plz help :(

Also, if you don't want to use Bonk, use the FaN, and force jump up to the ledge in the room with the desk, and go through the vent. Shoot two shots at the stickies, double jump over, go up the second vent and FaN the demo.

Thanks to Carmine and Artinz for getting this started while I was at school.

Racecar, fighting scouts and pyros with a demo is tough, you got that right. They excel at getting quickly to close range and killing very quickly, while the demo's weakness is people getting into close range with him.

The trick, as can be helped, is trying to keep an eye out for scouts and pyros before they get close. If you can see one coming for you, get around a corner and lay a sticky trap. 2 or 3 ought to do for either class. If one jumps you, don't panic, try to get a hit off with a grenade, and failing that, the bottle. It's an uphill fight, sure enough, but a good aim, situational awareness, and a bit of luck can let you survive the dreaded SCOUT/PYRO ATTACK!

But the best tip? Play some scout or pyro! No one here is counting your hours played, or is looking to hire some professional demomen. Try killing some demomen yourself. If you get killed by a demo, try to figure out how he got you, and remember it. If you do kill one, think he could have done to survive. Go back to the demoman whenever you want, but no one ever got WORSE by playing a different class.

^ Demomans power lies in distance, you don't see snipers go to the frontline either, get a demoman close and he loses his advantage.

Why does everyone think he should be a spy to get revenge kill?

I came into this thread expecting to learn how to rage and flame more. Then I saw the anti part! Curses caps lock

on topic: There are only two ways to play tf2 to taunt kill or melee

I know some other folks chimed in, but I had two cents to offer as well ^_^

If you can risk it, the suspended ledge beneath the ironhorsing spot (where it raises up when someone captures L/C) is a great place to get back at ironhorsers. I've had demomen, soldiers, and snipers taking shots at me while I was up there, and I've used it to clear out sentry guns on that ledge as well. The risk of being sniped by someone down below is higher, but it's a nice and sneaky way to get rid of your problems ^_^

I play Spy Engie. aka Ninjaneer. Especially on cp_steel. I get a teleporter on E and build a Sentry. :) I've managed to slip past Level 3s on B before, with only like 30 health.

I would not recommend using the FaN with Bonk, the two shot capacity is way too small to be your only ranged weapon.

Because as a spy, he doesn't have to get into a direct fight with you, a fight that's been well proven he can't win. I'll do it too on occasion, especially if the person in question is a sniper, soldier, or heavy.

Im having trouble killing pyros, soilders, and demomen as the scout

Hoo boy that's vague. For the demo and soldier, try to keep agile, jump around, and stay off the ground as much as you can. Get close, shoot, and back up. If possible, try to approach from an angle they're not paying attention to.

Pyros are simple enough for scouts. Stay at a distance and harass with the pistol, or if you've got BONK, your scattergun. If you catch on fire, beeline for the nearest medkit. You're fast enough that you can stay out of flamethrower range with little effort, and scouts do far more damage at that range than the pyro can.

Okay, most demos will lay their trap, then camp up there waiting for you to run through and get blown up.

Better demos throw down grenades to force you into the killzone.

Really good demos go round the vents, flank with pipebombs, then force you into the killzone

If you're sitting there waiting for a kill, you're doing it wrong.

For pyro, use your pistol until he pulls out his shotgun. Once that happens, swith to your scattergun and run in for a hit or two then run away because the flame will come out. Rinse and repeat as needed.

Soldier, Jump jump jump jump. Most soldiers, like demoman tend to have their xhairs on the ground. Jumping will disorientate them and will cause them to miss. When you see one, use your pistol until you get close enough to use the scattergun.

Demoman, by far are the easiest to kill with the scout. Be aware of chokepoints. All demoman like to put stickies and wait (babies). If its a wide open map they will die, but try to stay out of confined areas. If you see him sticking everything, use your pistol. Once you see him get distracted or blow up his trap, run in. Once you get close he's done.

#1 Use your pistol
#2 Use your pistol.
