My internet speed has slowed down over the last couple of days it is extremely slow and when this started I have been experiencing lag in steam based games any ideas on what I should do to fix it.

Well, what type of internet connection do you have? Can you check your router to see how much traffic is going through it? How much latency are you experiencing?

..and check for viruses and spybot stuff

make sure you have the latest firmware installed on your modem. that fixed my problems a year or two ago when my internet had problems
