ok spies lets be honest how many of you actualy use the regular old iw. i havent seen a spy sense the update who is using it. now your saying, well why would you use it i can do everything that can do with the CnD. Well last night i was playing our pay load server and for some reason i dont know why i thought. i wonder how bad the iw is. no i equip it .

maybe my first 5 lives i die and about to give up. but i didnt i kept going. by the end of the round i had adapted to the new play sytle and was topping the leaderboards. at map change i would have been top but i was afk for like 5 minutes and got second.

so basically this bring me to the challenge just bear with me. get rid of your Cnd and your deadringer for a round maybe 2 and just try the regular watch. you might be suprised like i was. and now i think if im gonna stick with the iw and i know i had to go back to CnD i would miss the mobility of the iw.

let me rephrase.
who uses the iw as there primary watch or the main watch (one they use the most regardless of map, server)

When I spy, I use the IW as my primary. Before the update came along I was doing perfectly fine with this watch, and I view the CnD as a bit more situational and risked.

I move across battles with the regular watch just fine, with the CnD, I find my cloak depletes very quick, meaning that if something unforseen happens to slow my progress, I have to stop right there in the middle of a firing zone or glimmer all the way to a safe recharging spot.

And while the CnD does offer the protection of being cloaked 24/7, your rate of productivity is slowed by having to stop and recharge more often, something a medium crate of ammo can do in much less time, allowing me to get more work done. And the wandering flame of a pyro will nab you just as easily, perhaps more so because of your limited movement.

As for the Dead Ringer, this is only something I use if I am seeking to act as a distraction, such as making myself a target, pretending to be a friendly medic. It's uses in flushing out enemy spies by giving them an open back is quite good, but aside from this I find it's applications very limited, mainly due to the foghorn that is your decloak.

kraken i know what you mean. that imho is why good spies should use iw. on valve maps there is a abundance of metal anyways so u can have it refiled for a while.

Your definitely right that the watches are situational.

For a map like a PL map were your main goal should be to get behind enemy lines and do as much damage as you can, I like to go with the CnD. It allows me to be more methodical with my approach. I can go target to target with relative ease and safety. Granted its not nearly as fast-paced as the IW, but it gets the job done with less deaths.

For maps that tend to be smaller and less focused on defence, IW all the way. IW lets you get in this rhythm and allows you to get alot more done. If your focusing on getting kills and aren't too worried about stealth, I'd go with the IW. If you want to take down specific targets to help your team and live to fight another day, go with the CnD.

The DRs just there to mess around with, it's fun and in the right situations pretty lethal, but I don't use it regularly.

I also only use the invisibility watch exclusively. Well, I sometimes break out the DR just for kicks, but it's not something I'll use if I actually want to KILL anyone.

I guess it's mainly because I'm too used to the IW, and know most of the restock ammo locations so I can refuel. I'm also not very patient, so C&D doesn't fit me very well.

ok good results so far. if you know someone who doesnt use iw refer them to the thread please. i wanna see someones results..

My main watch is the C&D and no matter what watch I try and use i always go back to the C&D. You guys are missing the point, the watch is meant to give you a brief moment to get away from your enemy as well as a small moment to get behind yoru enemy and do your thing. The main reason I like the C&D is that once I find my spot, I can strike and hide and rinse and repeat without having to stay near metal or take a side track and find metal, I can sit and wait if needed or be agressive and attack and cloak to live another day. You will see what I mean as soon as I upload my vid (which im doing at the moment...I hope it will be finished in 2 hrs.)

Dead ringer for life. Topping the leaderboards every round with it, so I think I'll pass. (I tried it about a week ago on a few servers when the update came out, because DR's had a little glitch with them, and it blew.)

look im not asking you to switch. im just saying. try it for a round or to. its like playing 3 different classes with each watch and many of you have forgotten what its like to be a spy with iw.yes i understand you can camp with the CnD but it also take you forever to get thru the battle if its long for exaplme on gold rush you can almost always cloak from your spawn to the second cap...
my advice just try it

Now divide your score in half since u get 2 points for a backstab and see if ur still on top...

snipa dude please dun hate us spies. we dont have high powered rifles or rocket launchers we work hard for our kills.

What in the world are you talking about? That's all I use. I was just playing with you yesterday on badwater and I was using it. I was at the top of the scoreboard - by a lot. Frisky was there. CnD and DR are good for training, but the best spies use iw.

I use cloak and Dagger, but that's because I mostly go spy to take out specific targets, and the C&D is built for that kind of wetwork.

I also tend to be a very careful spy, devoting myself to high priority targets and waiting for the right moments. The C&D enables that wonderfully, and I'm still mobile and opportunistic enough to not sink well below the scoreboard.
