A challenge for you spies out there

What in the world are you talking about? That's all I use. I was just playing with you yesterday on badwater and I was using it. I was at the top of the scoreboard - by a lot. Frisky was there. CnD and DR are good for training, but the best spies use iw.

Yeh I was there, and while I dont think of me as a super spy...I definately am above average, but I dont use the IW any more...imma C&D kinda spy. :)

I use cloak and Dagger, but that's because I mostly go spy to take out specific targets, and the C&D is built for that kind of wetwork.

I also tend to be a very careful spy, devoting myself to high priority targets and waiting for the right moments. The C&D enables that wonderfully, and I'm still mobile and opportunistic enough to not sink well below the scoreboard.

+1, along with the ambassador for long range shooting. I love this play style. Although Im not to careful of a spy...I cant sit in the shadows for ever, I like getting my hands wet. :)

Alright, so, I use the Cloak and Dagger. No harm, no foul. I use the Dead Ringer quite often as well. The invisibility watch though? Yeah, no thanks. I can just as easily use the DR and run off and pick up ammo along the way. Or, if you're a good CnD spy, you can get yourself into a great spot regardless of what's going on around you. Low on charge but need to cross an area? Crouch walk. Nobody around? Uncloak and let it charge while you're on the move... I've yet to come across a single situation where I was like "Man, I need to go back to the regular watch."

CnD and DR are good for training, but the best spies use iw.

And that's because of certain levels of awesomeness that rank the watches. CnD is good for spies who don't like to be visible because they're afraid that they'll be seen and shot at (even though Frisky uses it to a better effect from what I've seen). DR is for spies who know they'll die too frequently otherwise. The regular, awesome watch is good because it provides sufficiently long cloak time and it requires movement that conserves time and, because of that, makes the spy a quicker, more efficient class. Because of people's greater awareness of spies nowadays, the cloak is essential to fool your enemies and get behind their lines, and having a cloak that's not motion sensitive helps if you're trying to avoid enemies walking toward you.

I'm a regular watch user for life.

the whole point of the thread is not for you guys to argue over cloaks. i just want people who dont use iw as there primary to try it. because for me i was a CnD spy untill last night on PL where just for the heck of it i used iw. and now i love it and use it primarily.

Ehh, I might give it a whirl, but I'm liking the other two watches more.

I've been forcing myself to be a DR Spy on BlackMesa (namely because I never used the DR before/frequently) and I'm liking it a lot :D. Even with ungodly loud decloak sound, plenty of people keep falling for the backstab :)

so anyone who doesnt please use for a round or two and dont get discouraged when u die your first 3 or 4 times fast. i want to see what people who dont use it think.

Mainly use C&D, I like to stay, wait and then strike. And i repeat that and get alot of kills. But just because, I'll go try the IW sometimes.

I've yearned for the Cloak and Dagger long before it was announced. While I can use the standard watch, it makes me heavily dependent on ammo drops, and makes reconnaissance difficult when I'm constantly scrambling. Before the update I was only effective in Badwater, where ammo was plentiful. Now that I am no longer attached to ammo, I am free to perch myself in spots where I can see the enemy well and plan, or to position myself so that I spend the least amount of time uncloaked. Also, since enemy movements can be unpredictable, I can take my time until the situation becomes favorable rather than being forced to attack since I'm running out of time.

It's just that the Cloak and Dagger fits how I Spy.

On the other hand, I've moved back into the standard Revolver, since people are more wary of Ambassador Headshots and I do find myself in the occasional firefight, where the Ambassador performs sub-standard.

thats the problem with most cloak and dagger spys. some can be good mind you but u waste to much time being careful and staying invisble and camping. you might never die but how much do you help your team while you just camp and get like 1 person every 5 minutes :facewall:

It's annoying when I see spies on my team doing that..Staying invisible in a corner somewhere, and not even trying to kill anyone or at least telling us enemy position, and what they're doing.

frisky ur the exception to the rule. you are good with the cloak and dagger but how many times have you seen spies just sitting there with their cloak and dagger doing nothing...

I use it when dead ringer doesn't do it, it's pretty good for some PL maps, just to get past, chain stab the cart and get out of there.

I was actually asked a week or two ago why I was using it too, lulz ensued.

It only looks like we're doing nothing.

In reality I'm camping near enemy spawn points to inform you what's incoming and from where. I'm also waiting for JUST the right moment to strike and cause serious damage.
