Hello everyone,

I was just cleaning the inside of my mac pro and I took some pictures, I though it looked pretty cool so here's one of the pics I took.

Pro.jpg

Specs
An Intel 2.66 ghz quad Core Proccesor
A 1 TB Hard drive Expandable to 4 (fits in the four slots on the top)
2 NVIDIA GeForce GT 120s @ 512
8gb 1066MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM
2 18x double-layer SuperDrives

You should of got 32gb of ram and 2 quad cores. :p nice comp though very shiny.

Wow man. Awesome.
I remember I decided to see what a uber Mac Pro was like. With two 32" Apple cinema displays and the 32GB ram and all that.
Around ?13,000 ($21,000)

Woulda been a beast of a machine. I can only dream of things like that though - at least until I finish my exams and go to Uni and get a good job with a healthy income (but that involves hard work when I could be gaming -_-)

That was just a little out of my price range (about $ 5,000), I bought mine new on Craigslist for around $2,000 still in the box.

ya my is pretty similar just that i have my pcie slots full of pro tools hd cards and i opted for the 4tb across four drives

Do you game on your laptop or desktop?

I game on my laptop, My desktop is reserved for business, Video editing, Web design and photography. It also runs my home automation system (4 nightvision Fixed x10 security cameras, 2 Pan-able night vision cameras, my front door lock, tv, my mom's and my home entertainment system, my sprinklers as well as various lights and appliances) I don't do any gaming on it, the only game on it is chess. My laptop is again mostly business oriented, but i have The Sims 3 and Steam on it using crossover. I use my laptop for home use, surfing the web and on location video editing. I also bring it to school.

same deal here my mac pro even know it is my most powerfull setup has no games on it it's my production system and i relie on it for my work

Mac Pro's are crazy....too bad theyre so expensive too and can't game, the GPU's they offer seem so low-end compared to the other parts

Can't Game?? Why can't they?? I can install any operating system from ubuntu to windows 7. In fact I have a 200 gb partition with windows vista ultimate on it. I can also run crossover games and run almost any game I want, including any steam game.

Also for the question regarding all my security cameras, They all have motion detectors built in, and track when I get packages, or if my dogs get out. They also allow me to monitor my house from anymore in the world. So Yeah

There not low end at all you can either get up to 4x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB or 1 ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB. both of those should be able to run almost any game and you are probably able to upgrade the GPU your self if you want. The only downside i could see for gaming is the processors are not meant for gaming they are server processors.

Don't you love when people hear(or see) the word "Mac" they naturally assume that they can't game.

lol i have a macbook pro im not assuming anything............dude thats like bottlenecking there, a GT 120 is like nothing. Xeon processors coupled with a somewhat low end GPU??? all the components are so great and then the GPU is like like ehh

I remember they used to give the option for a 4870x2 but it was like a ridiculous upgrade price, like almost $1,000
They sell a GTX 285 for mac but its also ridiculously overpriced compared to the PC versions

Im not saying they can't game, they of course can, i do it occasionaly on my macbook pro with my XP partition but theres no point cuz i have a custom built desktop

Im just saying why do they have such nice components and then a somewhat crappy GPU, a single 4870 is not bad at all but when you pay like $4,000 i would expect atleast a 4870x2 or a GTX 295 maybe even two of them quad crossfire or sli. I guess 4xGT 120 would perform pretty decent in games but i doubt many games will support the QUAD SLI, it basically performs pretty good in theory ,even though a GT 120 is comparable to a card less than a 9600gt since the 9600gt compares to a GT 220, they are both like OEM cards
