Inside The Mac Pro

lol i have a macbook pro im not assuming anything............dude thats like bottlenecking there, a GT 120 is like nothing. Xeon processors coupled with a somewhat low end GPU??? all the components are so great and then the GPU is like like ehh

I remember they used to give the option for a 4870x2 but it was like a ridiculous upgrade price, like almost $1,000
They sell a GTX 285 for mac but its also ridiculously overpriced compared to the PC versions

Im not saying they can't game, they of course can, i do it occasionaly on my macbook pro with my XP partition but theres no point cuz i have a custom built desktop

Im just saying why do they have such nice components and then a somewhat crappy GPU, a single 4870 is not bad at all but when you pay like $4,000 i would expect atleast a 4870x2 or a GTX 295 maybe even two of them quad crossfire or sli. I guess 4xGT 120 would perform pretty decent in games but i doubt many games will support the QUAD SLI, it basically performs pretty good in theory ,even though a GT 120 is comparable to a card less than a 9600gt since the 9600gt compares to a GT 220, they are both like OEM cards

You could always install 4x Nvidia 8800GT MAC versions your self.

ehhh Nvidia dont even support Quad-SLI yet but 3x8800gt would be fine, still a pricey upgrade to something so expensive that it should already be included

w/e macs will always be that way, i like my gen 1 unibody macbook pro though

yea...i like macs and all, they are just too expensive for the specs they give, they got nice design though and they definitly excel in video editing and such, professional work basically

Can't Game?? Why can't they?? I can install any operating system from ubuntu to windows 7. In fact I have a 200 gb partition with windows vista ultimate on it. I can also run crossover games and run almost any game I want, including any steam game.

Also for the question regarding all my security cameras, They all have motion detectors built in, and track when I get packages, or if my dogs get out. They also allow me to monitor my house from anymore in the world. So Yeah

Cool I guess. I just thought maybe you were a wanted man or something :p

Nothing wrong with knowing what's going on outside I guess

I do video editing and have about 10-15 hours of SD video on my Macbook Pro, and have about 2 hours of hd, and i still have about 150gbs left. On my mac pro i have about 30-35 hours of HD and about 20 hours of SD, theres is also some on my two 2tb backup drives.

ya it's about a years worth of projects done with 24bit audio @ 96khz most recordings have between 16 to 24 tracks in them so they defiantly chomp the space down
